Is there an OEM code one can use to reset the Jog override % to
100
from an on screen button?
If not can someone show me how it can be done?
TIA,

Does anyone know a workaround for a machine with TWO slave axis

Hi,

New here. Just finished my machine yesterday.

I'm very proud of my baby: it is rock steady, pretty fast and can
mill 125x70x50 cm.

It is a router style machine with a gantry.
For me this means two motors on the Y-axis that I regularly would
like to reference. I do this by making one motor the slave axis to
the Y-axis and then I can use Mach3's reference trick.

However I also have two motors on the Z-axis: I can move the whole
crossbar of the gantry (the X-axis) up and down. I would like to
reference the Z-axis occasionally too. Does anyone have a suggestion
of how to do this using Mach3? If not is there simple hardware trick
for this?

Thanks,

Auke

Is it currently CNC'd? Is this mill servo or stepper based. If servo

You may be able to keep what you have.

Thank you for the reply Roger
Yes, it is a cnc and in it's day the sharnoa controller had a lot of
capabilities that others didn't. Wells Index sold a few mills with
them attached.
The motors are powertron servo motors, 60 # in, 17.3 Amp, max 103
volts, they seem to work fine when the controller works, but I haven't
checked the amp draw.

MAXNC CL - MACH3 setup XML file

I searched through the messages & files to find a setup file (.xml) for the
MAXNC CL. Apparently files were send to private e-mails.

Can all MAXNC - Mach3 users send or put their setup files in the file
section?

Thanks,

Which motor and VFD drive did you use? Was it the interfacing that made you
change?

Arthur

No not really, although DC drives do give pretty good torque, I have seen so many blow up and they are more expensive than a good VFD and 3ph motor. In fact one of my TCL's had a blown Spindle Drive.

I used a 3.4 hp vfd and motor from Siemens.

I have just been working on another DC spindle drive replacement. This was a 4.5Kw Siemens DC motor and drive in a Hardinge HXL-S cnc lathe. I've replaced them with 3Kw Siemens VFD (Micromaster 440) and flange mount motor. All I had to do was mill the round flange to a 8" square ome, and bolt it on! Mounting holes, Spindle Dia and length were exactly the same as the motor that came off!

I can run that to 200Hz ok and still be under the spindle rating. Good torque too...

I have a 3d file of basicly a 2 1/2" dia dome.I can't get the feedrate
hardly above 5ipm. When I increase the feedrate higher, the motion is
very rough. My configuration is .200 pitch on the ball screws with the
encoders mounted directly to the ends of these ball screws. I have
Mach 3 set at 10,000 steps per rev. Normally motion is very smooth
until a get into 3d moves then seems thinks get rough.
Any help would be appreciated. I could post the file if needed.

Peter:

Yes, the number is from 1-100% of feed speed. SO setting 1% will antidive at 1% of the requested feedrate.
Do you also have the antidive turned on? Is the antidive LED on?

I am using the THC300. When the machine slows down into the corners
the torch will crash, ie dive lower as the thc gives a different
voltage reading.

So in the anti-dive box I can only enter a value of up to +100.
I guess that this means that when the machine slows down below say
100, the thc function is turned off, and thus the torch will not crash
into the corner. Then upon acceleration out of the corner the feed
speed will eventually increase about the +100 value and then the THC
resumes normal function.

I have set the number to 100, 50, and 1. It makes no difference the
torch still crashes into the corner.

What should I do?

I am currently planning on using a 750mHz CPU.

Subject: [mach1mach2cnc] Help with config

I'm not sure if I have a config problem with Mach3 or my post
processor, but I'm sure this is the place to find out ;-).

There is a pretty simple file under files here on the forum called
Test File.tap. When I load the file in Mach3 it stops at line 159 -
which is line 161 in my editor - and reads "G28.1 Z5". This line
appears several time earlier in the file without a problem.

My theory is that it is a reference problem - my Z Axis DRO shows
something like 42". This a plasma setup and the Z Axis only has
about 8" of travel.

The second file is called KCroy.TAP and it will not load beyond line
967 - 969 in my editor - which reads "G02 X4.987 Y2.189 I-2.466
J1.351" I commented it out and it then loaded to 3484 - 3485 in my
editor - " X7.401 Y2.588 I3.408 J0.095", so I commented that out and
stopped at 3494 "G02 X2.538 Y2.354 I1.858 J-0.219". With these lines
commented, the file will run but obviously not a completed design.

I don't even have a guess on this one. My post proc. is set for
Absolute Coordinate values and Incremental I J for G02 G03 Circular
so I may have it configured incorrectly. I put my post processor out
in the files as Mach3-Mill XR-onecnc.

Some details on my setup - OneCNC Profile XR for posting, Latest
Mach3 as of a week ago, MP-1000 THC, and a DynaCNC table.

Any assistance in getting this final step of my migration finish
would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric
