I need to upgrade the control on my 1981 Tiger / Sharnoa mill. It
has a 2hp head, X 30" Y -17" and Z -5.5". I like what I've seen so far
of the mach software and would like some more input from the group as
to how big a task I'm undertaking. I'm pretty certain that the drive
motors will need to be replaced. What type and how big? What are
the best sources for these? What else needs to be purchased?
Is it currently CNC'd? Is this mill servo or stepper based. If servo
are the drive amps still good? Do you know the servo/stepper
voltages?
You may be able to keep what you have.

Thank you for the reply Roger
Yes, it is a cnc and in it's day the sharnoa controller had a lot of
capabilities that others didn't. Wells Index sold a few mills with
them attached.
The motors are powertron servo motors, 60 # in, 17.3 Amp, max 103
volts, they seem to work fine when the controller works, but I haven't
checked the amp draw.
