As long as the joystick connects to the Sound card 15 pin connector at the rear of the computer, it should work. Go to Windows Game Port set up in the Control Panel and follow the instructions. It

You are correct, page 60, paragraph 6.1.7.6 says that is exactly what it

Might want to check your math again. It takes 2.54 revs at the shaft
to move your screw 1 inch. It takes 3 times that because of the gear
reduction back at the motor so that adds up to 7.62 revs
