Hi John - nothing untoward here in that department? I've got Mach2
lathe running a test file (not cutting) Email and Internet explorer
running, I can jump between them with no apparent problem?

I wouldn't do that on my "production PC" however, just trying it is
asking for trouble!

problem and it SHOULD work.
Much, much better :) - Thanks Art!!

No spindle slowdown, no stepper lockups, no spurious X axis moves!

Still a delay initially while spin adder counts up, but the other
problems are fixed. I need to do some more tests and actually try some
threads now, which will be later today. I've a feeling from listening
that the Z axis response may be a bit slow and thread will suffer
without a decent lead in before tool actually starts cutting, and I
may have to keep tool return speeds same as cutting speeds, rather
than rapids to start next pass, but only an actual cut will tell. It's
so much better that I will risk a tool tip <G>.

I'm still tweaking tool offsets so they actually cut as expected, but
we now seem to be getting there. The home made "electronic tool
toucher offer" seems to work well and gives a good starting point for
the offsets. They then need tweaking slightly inwards on both axis so
the finished size is what you expected, but that's par for the course.

For those wondering what the tool toucher is, it's just a piece of
ground 10mm stock inserted into a piece of nylon and the lot held in
the chuck, fasten one multimeter lead to it, the other to tool holder
and slowly jog in until meter beeps on continuity setting. Much easier
than squinting down a loupe at the gap!

Many thanks for your efforts on Repeat. The Configure Logic Inhibit
Z tracks the DRO and both do Inhibit fine.

Repeat re-runs the code the requested number of times on the M30.

However the application of the value in Lower Z DRO is intermittent.
Sometimes Inhibit-Z does not go down on any of the repeats in a
cycle. I was using 0.5 as the value. When I tried 1.0 for Lower Z by
it DID work so I thought I'd found it (an integer rather than double
somewhere in the logic?) but no - when attempting to reproduce it
0.5 worked! Once it works it seems to keep working solidly.

As it now feels like an uninitialised variable or wild pointer I
closed Mach2, loaded Corel Draw and VB to use some RAM, re-loaded
Mach2 and again it failed to decrement Inhibit-Z. BUT no this is not
reproducible. Now it seems to work all the time - it's amazing
surely you have not got a self healing neural network in there!

Seriously, I will come back to it and try and find a reproducible
scenario and let you know.

Best wishes

program does not generate tool path

csgchum

I have downloaded different versions of mach2 and they all have
different response. Load mac2 c-2 and I can generate g code from
dfx file and get a tool path but the dro's dont work, down load mach2
1.0 and the dro's work and generates g code but no tool path
It seems that feed rate has something to do with not getting
tool path as If I edit lines pertaining to feed rate
I can get a tool path but it does not run properly. I can generate
a g code using a different program with the same dfx file then
export it to mach2 1.0 and I get a tool path and it almost runs
properly but not quite. I generate my dfx files from corel 9.

I would like to convert my dfx file with mach2, push a button and
tell my plasma cutter to cut, is this going to be possible. Do I
have bad downloads, am I downloading the wrong trial version, are
there some settings to be made, What do I do. Also would like to
know how to set dwell time or pause rate for plasma cutter. Thought
I could use dwell time for spindle as it is set up nice but looks as
though the spindle does not turn on and off for each cut.

Re: 2nd Parallel port card

Frank:

To remove all registry setting, you have to run RegEdit and select the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Mach1 and delete it. Its the only way.
Mach1, unfortunately, only knows the 20 or so addresses it has stored in
its program. Mach2, however, can take the address as an entry.

You may wish to switch to Mach2 if you'd like to use this port.

Thanks,

2nd Parallel port card

Hi
I just installed a 2nd parallel port card
My printer recognizes it but Mach1 does not.
The port address for the new card is not listed
under any of the Mach1 listings.
Is there some way Mach1 can show the new address?

Also I installed and uninstalled Mach1 a few times
and I get the same configurations that I had in the
previous install.
How do I get a clean install?
Thanks Frank

Already there. The "set next line" key preps the cycle/start button to
start from the line you were on when you pressed it. This is different from

Run From Here?

Servo Wizard

Art,

Would it be possible to configure the G Code interpreter so that the
file can be started at any line that contains the required
preparatory code. During the initial setup or first run of a program
it is often necessary to re-run a sequence and it would be very
convenient to be able to scroll to the starting line of the sequence
and start the cycle. I cannot speak for all but my programs alway end
a sequence with the go to home command. I would use that code for the
starting point of a mid-program sequence so that the machine will
automatically retract to Z home followed by positioning to X and Y
home. That would eliminate all of the procedure of having to tell the
control what the safe Z height is and then watching the G Code
interpreter parse all of the code prior to the line that I want to
start the cycle from and then having to execute the start cycle. Make
it an option so those whom feel that it would be un-safe can continue
to use it as is.

ARE YOU GOING TO PUT BALL SCREW MAPING ON MACH 2 SOME DAY

Re: Version R1.002 online.

Art

Hi All:

It still says 1.001 on the site and in the program , but it is actually
1.002. The new driver is also updated for the non-apic people.

1) Fixed G-Mode on G61/G64 (G8/G9) selections as reported.
2) Backlash was checked and seems to funtion properly.
3) Repeat has been fixed. Thisis an attemp only as I cannot repeat the
trouble here. Several changes were made however.
4) Logic screen has been rationalized with the program. This was a holdover
from Mach1, where the logic tab actually loaded its info from the registry
to initialize Mach1, Mach2 , however, initializes in the main program, so
the logic tab was being redundant by reading from the XML, so it was not
reflectig changes present in the program.
5) Another attempt at repairing threading for spindle/step/dir users. (Like
you , Steve.;) ). I have run several tests today on threading and more need
to be run, but I did find the reason for Steves X axis runaway and the
spindle slowing on threading commands. Hopefully its gone, but don't expect
miracles, this is an incredibly interactive code segment and relies on data
from several sources so this may take several attempts. My tests show no
problem and it SHOULD work.
6) I screwed up the SendSerial fix last week and that has been corrected. It
will now NOT send during toolpath generation.
7) Rutex code is still being worked on. A general instability in the SPI
communications is evident. (Probably my fault, not Vlad's) and will be fixed
as I go.

I will look at the digitizing requests made this week. I still have some
bugs on the list (LoadRun..etc..) and the Gecko2002 project is also going to
be stealing some of my time. My workshop is being trashed at the moment to
remove my large router table. (It is going to a new home where it can do
some real work..) and I am setting up a debug worktable where I will be
running
1) A rutex servo motherboard running 4 axis,
2) My API driven Lathe.
3) A Gecko 320 driven 3 axis metal mill.
4) A Gecko 2002 Cube with 3 active axis running motors. .

It will take me 2-3 weeks (at least) to get all this stuff running, but
the debugging and problem resoution will have a faster cycle as a result
when it is all done. It should allow me to check quicker on development
issues and test bug reports more easily. The Gecko cube running will allow
me to develop much quicker on the Mach3 front. (Yes, there actually is a
rudimentary Mach3 being developed as well on the side to take advantage of
the excellent G2002 cube which is producing some very impressive movment in
development. It will put a whole new definition to Constant Velocity by the
look of it. This is R&D an will be awhile though, so don't hold your breath
yet. )

(If I commit to much more, I will need to be committed myself...)
Thanks, Good luck,

Re: Version R1.001 online.

I'm having the same problem here. Every time the cycle ends count is 100.

A final observation - Mach2 has just dropped pulse rate to 100 again

in middle of these tests. Reloaded OK but repeats are still a

problem.

I think that Frank's uploaded ZIP file has no contents - at least I

cannot find anything it it using WinZip 8 or the Windows XP unzipper

John, fixed the file, sorry 'bout that. Uploades as 18sq one up_r2_FIXED.zip

Servo's electronic acronyms file omits the one commonly used for
idiots like me :=( The controls were not on Program Run screen
because my profile was for my development version of 1024.set with
the caption labels before they were released - I might have worked
that out for myself - sorry. But.. I still cannot make repeats
work...

When you enter the repeat count it does light the LED. However the
entered Z-inhibit value is not effective. There seems to be two or
maybe three "stores" for this value. The On/Off button on screen is
reflected in the Configure Logic dialog but setting a Z-inhibit DRO
value does not appear in Configure Logic (although changing Z-
inhibit on Configure Logic does update the DRO). Mach2 seems to use
the Configure Logic one when handling Z moves and M30 counts down
the repeat count but does not update either Z-inhibit value. I.e.
the Configure Logic control, which was 0 at load time, does not
change and the DRO does not change from its initialised value of -
1.0. So the tool runs round the rectangle at Z=0 the specified
repeat count number of times.

A final observation - Mach2 has just dropped pulse rate to 100 again
in middle of these tests. Reloaded OK but repeats are still a
problem.

Re: Version R1.001 online.

John,

No I can't, but the file 18sq one up_r2_speed changes.zip I just uploaded
works perfectly. !IF! I use these settings:

Lower Z inhibit by .5, Z inhibit set to 2-, five passes.

Safe Z is zero.

The Z inhibit is now set to -4 and if I run again the program continues to
cycle with Z inhibit increasing -4.5, -5.5....

This should reset to the initial value., I think.

I also find the repeat count resets to 0 when I rewind, I guess it should for
safety's sake.

Frank Carpenter

Can anyone else make:

f100

g1 z-10

g1 x5

g1 y10

g1 x0

g1 y0

M30

work with Z-inhibit initially = -1 and Lower ZInhinit on each pass

set to 0.5 and 12 repetitions? (it's for Metric Units)

Best wishes

Strange, mine repeats the program fine. Does the grenn light beside the

are...
