Does anyone have a recommendation for a good stepper to direct drive a bridgeport clone knee mill. I intend to direct drive a .200" lead ballscrew for X and Y. Thus I would only need about 300 rpm to get a max of 60 IPM.
What would be the benefit of using a smaller motor and perhaps a 2:1 Mechanical reduction at 600 rpm, other than resolution? I am trying to stay away from any detrimental effects of operating steppers at a higher rpm with reduced torque or any resonance prone speeds.
Thanks
