Re: strange stopping
开云体育The USB interface is
typically not electrically isolated and if the ground of the computer and the
signal ground of the controller to which the Pokeys is connected are at
different potentials, then current will flow through the ground wire and the
shield of the USB cable. This current can cause interference with the data being
passed by the USB interface.
?
If you suspect this to be
and issue, try adding a heavy (18 AWG or heavier) wire from the chassis of the
computer to a signal ground on the controller. On the PMDX-126 the signal ground
is labeled PCgnd and appears on J1 through J7. Do not use the GND (machine
ground) on J11, J12, or J13 for this purpose. A quick way to check to see if
this is the issue, try running things from a laptop while on battery
power.
?
There are also USB
isolators sold as cables with a lump in the middle, popular on eBay and used by
musicians a lot.
?
As a side point, many of
our boards do not provide isolation of the USB port, but the PMDX-424 (and
possibly future products) do offer full isolation of the USB port.
