Hello, there is nothing complex I think. The machine uses home, limit switches, tool length switch, tool clamp, maybe analog spindle speed control. Nothing that MACH cannot control already.
As I see I can put some Smooth stepper in place of the original PCI/ motion controller and use the original power supply with the drives running at step/dir mode. That is not as bad as I thought in the first place. The RS-485 links will be unused.

That's a pretty complex system. I do see that the servo amps can take step and direction signals but then the massive other features would be difficult to get around. I don't think Mach3 can deliver all the features of your current system.
