Subject: Logosol motion controller

?Hello, I have several cnc machines based on Logosol hardware- rs485 pci card, BoB and drives. I need to convert the software to MACH 3/4, but cannot find any info of suitable plugins. I want to retain much of the hardware as it is good and working. Any ideas appreciated.

Hello all, it is strange no one commented on my issue. Logosol seem to be US-made products. I thought you guys should be familiar with them.?

Thanks

Which model control unit do you have? Does your system also use a PCI card installed in one of the accessories slot?

Here is a quick look on two of the systems, yes there is a PCI card. I am not sure if I can post links here , sorry about that.

PCI card :
Motion controller:
Servo drives :

They are all based around the Logosol Distributed Control Network (LDCN) running on RS-485. Well build devices that have run many years. We want to migrate the software to MACH though as the original one has some restrictions. I believe that with the proper plugin this should not be a problem.

Photos inside the cabinet:?
Thanks.

That's a pretty complex system. I do see that the servo amps can take step and direction signals but then the massive other features would be difficult to get around. I don't think Mach3 can deliver all the features of your current system.

Hello, there is nothing complex I think. The machine uses home, limit switches, tool length switch, tool clamp, maybe analog spindle speed control. Nothing that MACH cannot control already.

As I see I can put some Smooth stepper in place of the original PCI/ motion controller and use the original power supply with the drives running at step/dir mode. That is not as bad as I thought in the first place. The RS-485 links will be unused.

It looks like you could take the 2-9 pins of the Smooth stepper for inputs step and direction directly into the servo amps CN8 pins 7 and 13. No sure how the 2310 would interface with mach3 and the SS.
