Chain of infection. No contact, no transmission. I see even professionals tugging masks down while in company, or standing shoulder-to-shoulder. Lifelong habits. People are not reliable at transmission precautions in social settings unless they are so scared by the disease they avoid others anyway. Except some (young?) people who believe they are immortal.
U had COvid. More than once, I think, but once confirmed. Three and a half weeks of something I do not want to experience twice. It is not a cold. Precautions should be serious because even immortal people who never get sick can infect others.

Of course not. Only for those where lockdown is recommended. So far, this covid family is the only one I've lived through.
However, it is interesting to consider different levels of lockdown and restrictions. For example, a couple of years ago I went to visit my brother in Brasil. I could have gone without getting vaccination for malary, I think it was. But ?why would I risk it? When I was a child, I got chickenpox, and had to stay at home, not only for me, but to avoid getting other kids infected. Same happened with lice, wich was pretty common. Neither are death threatening, but sitll, infected individuals must stay at home. I remember reading (and my parents telling me about when they were young) that other diseases requiried lockdowns or closing schools if an infected child appeared, to avoid contagiousness to others.
So lockdowns are not unreasonable, even for not deadly or cripling diseases, if they come along with other measures and protocols to be safe.
Unfortunately, as I said, the second part of the process (applying protcols) is what's been missing last year.

Would you do lockdowns for every new virus?
— ? We should have had intelligently applied lockdowns. That is: mandatory masks from day one, triage in/out of shops, bussinesses and scools, etc. Unfortunately, some would still suffer much, like restaurants, but still could implement some sort of proceedure.
I Argentina, most protocols weren't even considered for several months. And many are still not in place, like in schools. So, we lost a year...

— ? Hahha I only disagree about the lockdown. I believe social distancing is needed. However, the show must go on, and so does work! So we should have had working protocols from day one, established by govenment and/or private sectors. It is on this last issue that we've all failed.
