Re: Which direction for final move on PA adjustment?
Hi Brian, My G11 is on a permanent pier so perhaps I can give a few tips. As Paul men

I don¡¯t know for certain, it is possible that corrosion has damaged the tracks. Sent: 04 June 2024 20:28 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Losmandy_users_io] RS-232 port damaged David, Do

Re: Elongated Stars
Elongation is in RA direction. Yep, I agree. Better data is better. But increasing DEC min move will make for round stars at the expense of more convolution in the direction of DEC. --
Re: Elongated Stars
That's my usual assumption -- 0.2 RMS means I did something wrong:) I'm certain that it was a true value though as the images showed way more detail than the night before or after, and I did not

Re: Elongated Stars
Hard to imagine, I'll suggest looking at the assumption that the Guide Camera and the Image Camera connect rigidly.? If the cameras do not comply, due to flexure or mounting issues, then the Guide

Re: Elongated Stars
So was the elongation in RA or DEC direction? I would try to get as much of the elongation out during capture as I can. It doesn't just distort the star shape, but it also smears extended objects in

Re: RS-232 port damaged
David is the expert! To me that looks like some moisture got in through or around the RS232 jack that caused the white stain around it on the PCB.

Re: RS-232 port damaged
It¡¯s not the socket that will be the problem, it will be an integrated circuit on the printed circuit board. Sent: 04 June 2024 16:37 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Losmandy_users_io]

Re: Elongated Stars
I haven't gotten the logs yet. It's either too cloudy, or seeing is too good to waste it. One thing that I did find though: I was using pec in the mount, and ppec in phd2, but with the period allowed

Re: RS-232 port damaged
David and Paul I have opened the Losmandy and it appears that the RS-232 socket (photo 1)has some white stain just on board and in the pins, in comparison with the other sockets (Photo 1,2,3). Is this

Agreed Paul, it seems like it did not change this much the first few months in total.? Now that I think about it, its possible some stuff loosened up over the winter/spring/early summer heat/cool

Re: DEC error post L6 upgrade
Last night I went out just before 10:00PM and this time I experienced DEC worked fine, but RA was not correcting. I saved the logs for this period under subfolder 06-03, and the log files should

Re: Which direction for final move on PA adjustment?
Brian, a few arcminutes over days seems like a lot. Are you sure your mount is tightened down well in both axes? It's possible to make minor PA adjustments even when everything is tightened down well.

Re: RS-232 port damaged
Hi Luis, Before you try to replace the RS232 chip, make sure you've tried swapping everything in between the PC and Gemini, including all the cables and the USB->Serial adapter. Sometimes the

Which direction for final move on PA adjustment?
I'm set up on a permanent pier, which has 4'of concrete in the ground, and 8 embedded bolts per the 'pier bible' how-to book.? It's an 8" pipe on top of that and the MA Adapter is bored down directly

Re: Elongated Stars
You can try the PPEC algorithm in PHD2 (if that's what you're using) which can trim down your 239.4s RA error a bit more than with just PEMPro alone. (You must set the PE period). When seeing is good

Re: Western weight
This used to work well for the original straight servo or stepper drivetrains with 2-piece worm blocks. I used to set the backlash up loose and just balance the mount to keep the same face of the worm
