Re: G-11 Re-Lube
Brian, I got a tube of Lube Gel from Radio Shack for $3 or $4. A 3 oz tube should last quite a long time. It claims Superior adhesion:stays where you put it, Non-toxic and Non corrosive, won't wash

Re: GM8
If you have DSC encoders then its a good idea to get the delrin covers..they prevent the encoder cables from getting caught in the gears. "Brian Kennedy" <draco61@...> wrote: Herm Astropics

GM8
I have a GM8 and some questions. 1) I am reading alot about tearing down and relubing the GM11. Is this something I should consider doing to my GM8? If so, what is the best lube to do this

G-11 Re-Lube
Thanks to all who contributed to advise on relubing the G-11. With Mark's and others advice, I decided to try this myself and did indeed find that all bearings on the RA & DEC were seized. The only

Re: G-11 Pwr Cable Connector
Just a note here, (to get it off my chest, and because I know that Scott reads this occasionally :-) I absolutely love my G11. Fabulous piece of equipement. Built like a rock, and worth every penny.

Re: JMI NGC MAX complete install kit for G11
the only encoders to get are the ones from Losmandy, other encoders interfere with the clutch operation..you can use any computer you like. Get the delrin encoder covers and route the cables neatly

Re: JMI NGC MAX complete install kit for G11
Glenn, Any of the Tangent boxes will work but as far as the encoders are concerned the Losmandy encoder kit is the best for the mount. If you don't have the delrin gear covers, get them also. Don

JMI NGC MAX complete install kit for G11
I am the new owner of a G11 (in fact, it still hasn't been unboxed having just arrived). I have never even seen a G11, but I got one off astromart for a good price. At any rate somebody else found

This G11 addition looks great and works well. I bought a standard, 12' black good quality coiled phone cable and cut it into three pieces. One about half the length and one about 5" long (coiled

Slight wobble between G11 head and tripod pier
I seem to have a slight bit of slop between the G11 head and the tripod pier. I'm using the TKS (no-tool tripod knobs) as tight as I can hand crank them. This is only noticable when there is

Re: Worm drives
Hi there, I use a feeler guage and gradually increase space until the worm is free to turn the wheel gear with a little backlash. In RA a little backlash is OK since we only drive in one direction.
