Re: The Lagoon
I've always struggled to get a good SNR on the Rho area around antares. Even if it's at the zenith it's pretty faint and needs a lot of integration time. I started a mosaic 3 years ago and added to

Brian, you have been totally awesome, I probably would have sold my G11G awhile back without your help, but I know that it is truly the Last GEM mount that I need and is that forever mount. My next

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
Hello Taylor
I did to for the same reason, I was able to move Counterweights up by nearly 2" and that's a lot.
And learned that I did not have to tighten down the clutches hard unlike my last mount.

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
Thanks for the reply Brian.
Deric, I believe I needed it. When I got to the point of balancing the RA, it was difficult to tell which side was heavy. I would give a small push in each direction and

Re: The Lagoon
I guess it just dawned on me how dark this is, and what it means to have Scorpio and Sagittarius that high. You can make out the dark river to Antares and the orange color of the Rho region in a 15s

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
Hello Taylor,
Are you sure you needed the wavy washer? I needed one it made balancing things easier. I just tighten my RA just enough so it does not move easily. I've learned that it does not take

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
Hi Taylor
I suggest tightening it by hand until the RA axis stops moving easily. The
amount of tightening does not impact RA performance (we've recently tested
this) but you there's no need to crank

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
I have the GM811. When tightening before the wavy washer, the clutch wouldn't need to be very tight to actually have enough pressure for the RA to stop rotating. With the wavy-washer I have to really

Re: GM811G Worm Period?
Okay thanks!
FWIW, for any of the Gemini equipped mounts the worm period does not need to be entered because the worm period is calculated from mount settings on the Gemini controller.
That is,

Re: GM811G Worm Period?
Hi Jim, ( as Brian noted... just saw that)...
Worm period only applies to the RA for sidereal tracking.
That is a G11 size RA section, so the worm period for the G11 and GM811 is
~4 minutes, or the
