Re: Tucked Motor Upgrade
I'm a fairly new customer for Losmandy.? I ordered a mount and waited for it.? That's life. I can tell you this:?? I've had more and better communications from Losmandy in 6 months than I ever had

I follow this for filters https://youtu.be/t5NAIbV1l8o. I never use canned air because it can have residue. I use a hand held squeeze blower thing. For my scopes I point the objective towards the

Re: RA Drift
Yes...Alan is right. Definitely you should do a "drift align" and see if that solves your tracking puzzle before looking into anything else. Any gear or clutch slippage is going to be abrupt and

Re: RA Drift
I doubt you have a hardware problem in terms of anything slipping. By the time you get down to drifts of arc-secs per minute, it could be things like polar alignment barely off, or something shifted

Re: Cleaners
Paul...I was a bit disappointed with kimwipes. Part of the lens cleaning kit I bought contained some unknown brand of wipes...very small, something like 18mm wide and just long enough to wrap around

Re: Cleaners
Do you find that Kimwipes are better than a good microfiber cloth? I'm curious because I have been trying to use Pec Pads, which are awful for lens cleaning. They may be soft and non-scratching, but

Re: Cleaners
Good one. I have currently quite some fun with this. I started photography in 2000 ( not Astro ) and have 2 dozen lenses which in good old photographers/engineers obsession I thought are meticulous.

Re: Cleaners
For cleaning I use a combination of techniques...I use compressed air to blow dust off and also use the same air to magnetize a small brush to lift dust off, a lens cleaning solution and camera wipes

Cleaners
I would like to clean some of my lens pieces like camera, filters etc.. would like feedback from the community as to what they use and best practices in general.

Unguded 15 minutes? Are you permanently mounted in an observatory? How do you / did you polar align? Thx DD

Hang in there pcboreland...I'm positive Losmandy's interest in your needs is much greater than you give credit. I'll add from an industry perspective that direct personal contact with the folks that

Bob, You might also check that your RA (and Dec) clutch knob is well snugged down. If too loose, your motor may be turning but you could be sliding backwards toward the ground. If I see the target

Great. But even new units can have loose parts. Be on the lookout for such things over time. Your RA drift is technically impossible if all is working as it should. So you have to look for things that

Bob It might be worth doing a baseline guiding so you can that as a baseline metric, including your mount performance It's something i wrote up and we use over at PHD forum as well

Thanks again Michael. My G11 is only about 2 months old so I'm hoping there isn't anything really loose but I am going to check before dusk tonight. I'm not ready to be doing any alterations (tapping,
