Ok? few thoughts.??
If you want either Michael or I have replacement HCs (Michaels closer, in USA...I'm a long way away, Australia).
But that would mean swapping parts without diagnosis of proof.?
Diagnosis is difficult as the fault needs to be caught at the moment it happens.? Last time I saw one like this was 2+ weeks could not emulate the fault.? I've seen 2 systems HC fault similar couldn't fault either, both came from high humidity.
It could be the CPU or trace to it (Unlikely) but hey?
Knowing that its happening often, I would suggest scattergun approach...change the HC. See how it fares.? At least this narrows the fault.? Maybe contact Michael.? This at least gives a starting point.
Why I still say its the HC is that if the fault is not always happening...and the only change in the system is pressing the buttons the fault pertains to.....leads me to this being the issue as well as experience.? I cannot rule out a CPU....swapping could help or R&R cleaning its contacts.? Best to do one at a time.
Oh are you handy with a multimeter??? I knows its frustrating but I can show you where to measure...lest say solder a small wire to the PCB trace (have to scrape off PCB resist to expose copper), keep measuring this when using and if it faults, look at the meter to see what's it doing!?? Its a pain but the only way.? The other way is to change parts one at a time to fix.? Lets face it it should either be the HC or CPU (95% sure).? But experience has taught me this is not always the case whacko things happen.
If it was me and happening often, I can sense the frustration, ...I'd be inclined to change the HC to see.?
Out of interest have you used the ASCOM virtual HC and does it work ok with this.? Sure the signals are different but just asking.
Cheers
