Re: Gemini 1 just gone haywire

Ian,

Thanks to Bren's expertise, we repairers (Bren in Australia, David Partridge in UK, and me in the USA) have been able to repair handsets too.? They fail very rarely.? The code coming from the Gemini-1 goes to the handset, and button presses there go through a chip back to the Gemini.??

But usually the garbled characters are coming from a glitch in the Gemini.? Usually we can repair the problem in the Gemini-1.??

So decide who's closest to your location, and contact one of us to help you get the unit back to?normal operation.

Very best and happy holidays,
Michael

Ok? few thoughts.??
If you want either Michael or I have replacement HCs (Michaels closer, in USA...I'm a long way away, Australia).
But that would mean swapping parts without diagnosis of proof.?
Diagnosis is difficult as the fault needs to be caught at the moment it happens.? Last time I saw one like this was 2+ weeks could not emulate the fault.? I've seen 2 systems HC fault similar couldn't fault either, both came from high humidity.
It could be the CPU or trace to it (Unlikely) but hey?

Knowing that its happening often, I would suggest scattergun approach...change the HC. See how it fares.? At least this narrows the fault.? Maybe contact Michael.? This at least gives a starting point.

If it was me and happening often, I can sense the frustration, ...I'd be inclined to change the HC to see.? Out of interest have you used the ASCOM virtual HC and does it work ok with this.? Sure the signals are different but just asking.

Cheers
