This is what I have encountered.? I have a Celestron CGE (Mk I) Tripod.? It has a OEM flat solid top plate.? I was able to source an original MA Adapter.? The original model MA has a removable base plate, not the welded on type sold today.? Removing the MA base plate the MA's cylindrical portion ID fit perfectly on the rim of the tripod top plate and I secured it to?[tripod's top plate] factory holes?without having to drill/tap for three horizontally orientated perimeter 3/8-16 bolts.
