Firmware update cannot find the USB

I cannot get the firmware update application to function on my new Windows 10 Pro PC.
The Programming cable USB port does not appear on my Ports (COM & LPT) in a useable form.? I see an error message:? "PL2303HXA PHASED PUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER".??
When I plug the programming cable in a USB port I do hear the typical Windows sound that it recognizes the USB device, but I cannot find the device ex. COM 3,4,5,6, etc, on the 'LAB599 updatefirmware' program window.? Only my ICOM and Yaesu COM port drivers show up (COM #).
The application:? 'checkChipVersion_v1006 cannot find the Programming cable, either.

I went to a different PC at home and I do see the Prolific USB to Serial converter plugged into Port and it is labeled as COM 3, yet when I open up the "LAB599 updatefirmware" installer, the COM port selection is empty, there are no COM# listed, it is blank.

This is very well-known issue with prolific. Can't recall details, but they essentially blacklisted older models because they were cloned too much. Doesn't matter if you have genuine version or "pirated" clone, it's in blacklist.
I have bunch of those USB-COM adapters and they all do that, despite being genuine.
My tx-500 was supplied with FTDI-based cable so it doesn't have this problem.
Has you tried manually overriding drivers with ones provided by lab599??
If this fails, i can send you old (2008) drivers that works with olded PL2303 chips, i use them pretty often on win10. Should probably work with HXA too.

I use the old version PL2303 in a some homebrew projects here (unrelated to the TX500); with Windows 10 64 bit version, I found it was necessary to uninstall/remove any driver PL2303 Windows 10 tried to install on it's own, then manually install the old version PL2303 driver (I believe 1.5.0 but the driver from LAB599 would work too), then "disable automatic driver downloads" (a setting in Windows 10). This worked (that is, stayed operational across reboots and shutdowns) UNTIL I did a feature update for Windows 10, at which point I had to repeat this entire procedure as the feature update evidently brought with it the automatic-but-nonfunctional driver.

Hi,
Yes, I did get a response from John at the LAB599 Service center in USA and he sent me a link to a YouTube video on how and where to find the old drivers.? Problem is now fixed.

I upgraded to Version 1.05.01 and NOW I cannot hear CW Sidetones.? Sorry to bother the group again, but where do I get the CW Sidetones to come back on?
I can see the CW on the VSWR/power meter, but there are no audible tones.

One more point,
When VOX is turned ON, no Sidetones, BUT when VOX is turned OFF I do hear the CW sidetone, wierd ?????

Did you do a power on reset after firmware upgrade?

Glad to help by the way!

Hello John,
Yes, I did do a power ON reset.? Yet there is still no side tone.

The volume of the sidetone can be adjusted by the AF Gain while TXing. Check in the display on the right hand side "AFxx" while sending. May be it's zero...

Axel,
TX Volume was at AF10, so boy do I feel embarrassed.? All OK now.

Glen,
great that it works now. And believe me... I walked thru the same pain, figuring that out one day :)

For those of you on Lab599 Facebook page, there is a file I put there on this topic. I'll see if I can also attach it here.

Thank you, just printed it and put it in my users manual.?
