Re: New Firmware v1.16.06

Uninformed user with a question: What is the purpose of this feature? Is it so you can store a particular frequency and get to it faster than by manually changing bands and spinning the VFO knob to the desired frequency? Also, why would someone want "CB" channels? Just curious...

Hi Tim,

Im potentially interested. To confirm, you’re building something that will accommodate a TRRS connector? That would probably be slick depending on how the PTT works and how large it is.?

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned Shure In-Ear Monitors (IEM). I’m a big fan of those. Shure makes versions with built a built in mic and TRRS plug for cell phone use. I don’t have a set but I’d probably buy one if I could use them with radio too.

VOX Continuous with BM-17DDYN and custom adapter cable

Hello,

I've created a custom adapter cable that connects the microphone on my Heil BM-17DDYN headset to PIN 2 (MIC IN) and PIN 6 (GND). ?The adapter also has a PTT switch which is wired to PIN 3 (PTT IN) and PIN 6 (GND). ?The headset speaker positive leads are tied together on PIN 4 (SPEAKER +) and the headset speaker ground is on PIN 1 (SPEAKER -). ?The headset, microphone and PTT switch all work as expected with VOX turned off. ?Monitoring my own audio, there does not appear to be any unexpected noise, hum, clicking, or anything else.

However, with VOX enabled, the radio continuously goes in and out of transmit mode, even with no audio present. ?As soon as I press the VOX button, the radio switches into transmit, then switches out after the VOX delay, then immediately goes back into transmit. ?there is no combination of VOX Level and MIC gain that does not result in this behavior.

VOX works properly with the factory microphone.

The headset works properly in VOX mode using the Heil adapter cable on my KX2.

Any idea what I've done wrong here?

Thanks,
Jonathan KN6LFB

Re: Headset option

I too am hoping for something a more rugged than the W2ENY headset; I had one and it didn't work.? Replacment received and it works -- but just a bit too light duty for what I want.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Radio Sport Headsets will make either a compact headset (as they did for the Elecraft KX3/KX2) or an adapter to work with the TX500.? It is on their radar as I see a place holder for the TX500 on this page:
