Re: Official BP-500 Battery Pack User Manual
开云体育I guess this solves it? The pack is LI-ION only and it can’t handle LiFePO4? ?I am disappointed. ?Also disappointed the manual specifically says it has limited protection against moisture and you shouldn’t get moisture inside. ?I was particularly surprised that the rugged radio with “no holes” got an official pack with holes. ?What a shame. ? They should have kept the “no holes” philosophy with things like the DC connector on the pack.? What good is a very water resistant radio if it’s connected to a pack that isn’t very water resistant? Also, can we assume the specified 5 year life span only applies to the cells themselves?? And does anyone know what logic the charging circuit uses? 73, Tom, N2YTF? Re: CW-500U Paddle
Nice job. The key I'm interested in is less expensive than the one made for direct connection to the TX-500 and can use a detachable cable with 3 5mm plug at the key end, which I like. How do you secure the base when using it. Too bad it doesn't have embedded magnets.

Re: DIY599 BAT-500
开云体育I definitely agree Norm, which is why I'm taking a wait and see on the battery boxes. First, there is no pricing available for the BAT-500 and I'm not certain they have a prototype yet, so it's problematic at this juncture. I'm just throwing an alternative out there. Frankly, I can't stomach HR's $399 price for that battery pack. The $225 direct price is much better, but with everything going on in Russia and Ukraine, there is no telling when those units will be available. DIY599 being a European company is probably a more stable solution, at this time, but again, who knows when that will happen. Both units are quite nice and handy, but I have battery solution at the moment that works quite well, so I'm not a hurry.73, Larry, WG9U Norm - KC1BMD wrote on 3/10/2023 2:26 PM: I've been tracking that on their site for a while. The QRP Store (US distributor for diy599 amp) also has a solution based on Olver's design but with a 3D-printed case instead. |
