Re: DIY599 BAT-500

I've been tracking that on their site for a while. The QRP Store (US distributor for diy599 amp) also has a solution based on Olver's design but with a 3D-printed case instead.
It seems that both battery products have their pros and cons.

DIY599 BAT-500

Just an FYI for those discussing the BP-500... Oliver at DIY599 has a new battery pack design in the works call the BAT-500. The only thing available at the moment is a PDF with the specifications for the unit. There is no pricing available nor a lead time for production, however, it might be a good alternative to Lab599 BP. The BAT-500 is also setup to support the radio and the PA500 RF amplifier simultaneously. It may be an interesting alternative. Of course this is in development, but DIY599 has done a stellar job with the amplifier, so it may be worth the wait.

Here's the link to the manual:

Here is a link to a youtube video review of the new battery pack (Audio is in Russian)

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

I could imagine that shipping would bump that price up.

Norm,

I use a Begali Adventure iambic key. It sounds like exactly what you are looking for. The Adventure has a magnetic base, or you can detach it and mount it with screws. It's running about 268 euros. All of my keys are Begalis, but this one is a really good QRP key that works with my KX3 and TX-500. I love the magnetic base on it. Anyway, just a thought in case you'd like to look at it here's the link .

I only see the direct-attach CW-500 paddle at HRO for US sales. Any idea if the CW-500U will be available in the US too? I'd like to attach the key with a cable instead of directly attaching it to the radio. It would be nice f the base was magnetic for easy attachment but I'm not sure that's the case.

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

Edited

The way I read it, is that its a special order from HRO.? Lab 599 is showing out of stock with a sell price of $225US.? So even if ordered from HRO,? its out of stock at Lab 599.??

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

As it stands now, it appears HRO is selling it for $399.95 in the US and it is orderable on their site. I can drive about 45min to HRO to pick it if that's possible to do. Otherwise, if it would be drop-shipped directly to me, with sales tax it would be $421.95. Ouch!

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

$225 is a very fair price in my opinion.? Will consider it when they come back in stock.

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

$225 is not a bad price. Thanks for the link. May buy direct and help out the Russian folks in a time of need.

Thank you 7MYM and Mark!

It looks like it is $225 (converted from Russian rubles).? It would appear that HRO is making a healthy profit margin on these items!!!!

Re: wsjt-x, V2.6.1, Digi Rig for the Discovery 500 and a new Windows 11 Laptop. #wsjtx

I had the same problem with my Windows 11 machine and can confirm turning off AGC sorted the problem.

To find the setting (hidden my Microsoft)

Run the Control Panel
Hardware and Sound, Sound
Recording tab
Select properties for the DigiRig
Custom tab and deselect AGC

V1.16.04 Power Output

Has anyone noticed a drop in power w the new version

the was a version change a while back that seemed to increase power

i have a spreadsheet somewhere of a comparison test I did at the time

i have an intuition that power is lower for the same level settings, I will run a comparison test when I get a chance

anyone else notice anything?

Re: Winlink vara hf #winlink

Yes please add DIG response?

here's my setup notes

Re: New Firmware v1.16.04

Actually, I think they've mixed the two up.
I could be wrong, but shouldn't the CW pitch go up when you dial the frequency up?
It does the opposite on the TX-500. Either that or my Elecraft K3 does it wrong.
So in my opinion "CWR" should be the default, but change name to "CW" and vice versa.
Any other opinions on this?

Re: DIG vs USB mode

Hi Tim. Using the DIG mode and adjusting the levels with the sub menu DIG is working for me. ?I am using digirig v1.9 not that it should make any difference. What leads you to think that things are not working when you are in the DIG mode?

Re: New Firmware v1.16.04

No issues so far with the new firmware although I'd still like to see the option of displaying CW keying speed in WPM rather than CPM.?

DIG vs USB mode

After updating TX-500 Firmware to 1.16.04, I am testing using this radio for FT8 and other digital modes.? I'm using DigiRig Mobile v1.6 and have working CAT control plus audio both ways.? My struggle is that I am assuming when incoming audio to the radio is via the REM/DATA port, I should be using DIG mode plus Menu 09 Gain > DIG levels.? Strangely to me I had to switch back to USB mode and use Menu 09 Gain > Mic levels to adjust sound card audio levels.? I've been looking back through all the post history here and in other Lab 599 groups and I'm not finding others talking about this.? I do see many helpful guides simply using USB mode without explaining why.

Am I just being too logical to expect digital modes would use the radio's DIG mode and related adjustments?
