When I tap the top of the microphone it transmits

I have two microphones (one that was sent from US support that is known good) and my original one.?

When the radio is on it doesnt transmit however when I bump the top of the mic or tap it the radio goes into transmit temporarily.

Anyone else experience this issue?

Re: Start up noise

Thank you for your response. I will assume the radio is working fine, as it seems to be ???I was?a bit curious about the start up noise and if this was a common occurrence for others. ?73 de N8EYF - Jack

Re: Start up noise

My radio has about a 1/2 second low level white noise hiss before it kicks into action. Barely audible with earbuds but a slight delay to actually working.
I imagine it may depend some on your individual settings and I never noticed it before because I usually turn the radio on then stick my earbuds in.
sounds like normal operation to me as it takes a slight bit of time for the processor to boot up.

Re: Start up noise

I'm wondering if it might be lag in the agc.? I don't notice it with my lab 599, but I do with my kx3.

Thanks, it sounds like this is not an issue, just an oddity ?

Re: Start up noise

I have one that has noise and one that starts without. Very odd, but no other issues when operating.?

Well, darn. ?Other than that, the transceiver works nicely. ?I?especially like the?CW receive filters ?

Not w mine?

Start up noise

Gentleman, when I first turn on the Lab599, I hear a burst of static for about half a second. ?After that the radio quiets and works well. ?Is the static burst normal at start up? ?Thanks - Jack N8EYF?

Re: Full Bk-In

It's not really possible due to the relay switching methods used. The radio can switch between TX and RX pretty quickly but not fast enough for genuine full break-in.?

Full Bk-In

Hello group.
First of all my best wishes for 2023 to everyone and to your respective QRAs.
How is it possible to do Full Break-In with the TX-500 ?
I couldn't find anything in the documentation or the menu.
I tried to cheat by setting the Vox CW to 100ms but I would like to do real Full Bk-In (Vox CW = 0).
How is it possible ? Can a new software version include this function?

Sounds no good. Have a chat with John at usservice.lab599@...

I've done all the above.? Just get "Device does not respond" ERROR:3 message.? Funny thing, I have upgraded multiple times in the past without difficulty.? My TX500 was an early model, serial #5169, and has had multiple problems, repaired x3, still buggy.? Sometimes it doesn't boot correctly and takes multiple tries, other times it randomly crashes and the screen goes wonky.? ?Others have not had these problems so I think mine is just a lemon.

Re: LAB 599 flakey, unable to reflash firmware

Edited

G'day Brad. A few obvious things to check are 1) use the CAT cable that came with the radio, 2) depending on its version you may need to update the driver (discussed on page 25 of the manual), 3) put the radio into update mode ("The loader is waiting" on the screen), 4) check that the right COM port is selected in the software. Good luck.

I am unable to update the firmware.? I can get the radio loader ready, select the correct com port, but the firmware updater says the device is not recognized.? I have tried multiple computers and two different CAT cables with no luck.? I have the latest firmware installed, but the radio is acting flakey so I thought a reflash would be an appropriate first step.? Any help appreciated.

Re: Funny Screen

You might try V/M to see if you load from memory?

Re: Funny Screen

Yep, the scrambled screen looks just like that though VFO B is also scrambled so swapping VFOs didn't fix mine...

Thanks for your help.

I don't see that option (A < > B)... perhaps the screen scramble is obscuring it?
