Jeff, I too understand your frustration. The repair gentleman is a good guy. He caught pneumonia and that is no joke. I am a retired firefighter of 35 years. I have caught pneumonia 4 times and it is very serious and takes a toll on one¡¯s body, leaving permanent lung damage.?

? Jeff, I understand your frustration concerning this matter, however, let me put this into perspective a bit. I've owned many brands of radios and still do. Over the years I've had to send in transceivers to a variety of companies for warranty repair. To be quite honest, I can't remember getting any of those radios back in under 90 days, some much longer due to awaiting parts from Japan. That being said, not one came back in under 90 days. Unfortunately, in this particular case, there is a single repair technician for the entirety of the USA. What I'm basically saying is that you should give it some more time before you give up on the process. I'd like to say that this is anomalous, but I would be lying. Hang in there and be patient. Good luck!

With disappointment only for the service and support of the TX-500, I present my own cautionary tale of ownership.

Obviously, YMMV and I hope you have much better luck than I did.
