Hewland oil and sealants
5
Howdy all I have always used regular 75W-90 Valvoline gear oil in my Hewland transaxle and sealed the casings with Hylomar. Last year I put Redline synthetic gear oil in it and the casing joints leaked, does synthetic gear oil break down the Hylomar sealant? Don't want to seal it with RTV because of the mess trying to clean it off after disassembly. Is there some other easy to clean up (maybe with Lacquer thinner) that I can use to seal the Hewland casings? Thanks for any help you can give me, Don

Lotus 23 Hewland MK8 oil
6
Howdy all I am in the process of filling the Hewland MK8 in a Lotus 23 and the manual says 2 pints, half in the gear section and half in the diff section. Is this correct, it seems to be too little (my Lotus 47 with a Hewland FT200 requires 2 quarts)? Is a British pint not the same as an American pint? Thanks for any help you guys in the cloud can give me, Don

Lotus 23 radiator

Subject: Lotus 23 radiator Date: Sun, 9 Feb 2020 16:40:29 -0800 From: Donhogue@... <donhogue@...> To: ss.hayes.m@... CC: donhogue@..., DEAN COLLINS <collinsdean@...> Howdy I have one of your Lotus23 radiators that I bought about 15 years ago. It uses 1/2 BSP connectors, but I noticed the ID was 1/2” and not 3/8” as is the mating connector. To increase the flow because of scavenging issues and the fact that a AN10 connector would screw on and give a 1/2” ID, all I would need is a ring with the AN taper one side and a BSP taper on the other side to complete the seal. Do have or know where I could get such an adaptor ring?

Rebuilding AR and NR calipers
11
I need to do some welding on the outboard side of a Girling NR caliper do to some small cracks that are leaking brake fluid. Once welded from the outside, I would like to remove the factory plug on the inside so I can clean up any weld protrusion into the brake puck well. My question; is it easy to remove the factory plug on the inside of the caliper and what issues will I incur?

We have arrived at our new home!
3
As you can see the entire contents of the group have been transferred from Yahoo to here. The Yahoo site is now closed, and likely will disappear around 15 December. Thanks to all who funded this effort! Now, back to our regular programming.... By the way you will notice many of the Photo Albums incorrectly have my name on them. If you know who the originator is, please correct it, or if you cannot, send an email to [email protected] .

Yahoo Groups closing- Urgent help needed
26
Hello everyone. I have just realised that Yahoo are closing the Yahoo groups down. I inherited this site from the founder Bill Steagall and I do not have the skills or knowledge necessary to migrate it to another host. Can anyone help me with this? If not then I fear we will lose the data already on this site and presumably will lose the ability to share our knowledge and experience nrelating to the Lotus 23. Please let me know if you can help!! Best wishes, Nick

Rear View Mirror choices
7
I've seen some cars using a center post mounted rear view mirror like the Spa Techniques. What works better, the flat or convex mirror? If you relocate the Raydyot style to the right side, does the door or windshield location work best? Is vibration an issue on door or windshield? Thanks Mike Kennedy
