Somehow I think I recall that they basically took my word for descendant status. I filled out an app and my mom signed it but I did not provide birth & death cert and I didnt pay.
It was a bigger issue when applying for his medals.
Hania recalls differently and it may be a sign of the times or a change in policy, or I may be wrong.
Looks like a phone call may solve it.

I will try to get a hold of Barbara Kroll then and explain- before sending in the money order and forms- since my mother is alive but does not wish to be involved in any way, plus our parents divorced... I assume then that we (son/daugthers)are next of kin. Then again I still do not have the death cert! I will call in to ask and share the answer here with the group for future reference. Thanks Mark!
