Re: Thinking of buying TS590s

Hi Donald,
Many thanks for the prompt reply to my Question.
It was good of you to go to the trouble of finding the page in the instruction manual.
I looked at the specification sheet but could find any reference to CW speed.
I use a stand alone keyer at the moment and it works well(Home brew).
looking at the Instruction manual page 42. It looks as though once you have set up the speed via the menu you can leave it displayed on the screen (and adjust WPM )and still be able to see what frequency you are on.
My everyday radio is a Yaesu Ft857 and you have a choice between key speed or frequency display you can't have both. So it looks as though the TS590 would work OK for me.
Thanks again for your time; much appreciated.
Best wishes for the New Year 73 and Good DX.

Hi ,
My trusty TS440sat has a fault and was thinking of upgrading to TS590s (Not SG). I am solely CW and want to know if there is a knob to change the WPM speed? I do not want to go into menus to change the speed.
It looks to me that you have to go into menus to adjust CW speed:

I don't have one, so I can't tell you from experience. The above is from the
manual, and it seems to be saying that you have to use a menu to adjust speed.

You could use an external keyer, or perhaps use a faster speed but allow more
spacing between characters and words than would be used for the faster speed. I
send code that way myself.

If you have to vary your speed quite a bit, this wouldn't work for you. But if
it only varies a few WPM, then it might work well.
