TS-850S SSB extra filter question

Hi,
I have a TS-850s with? the standard ssb 2.7KHz 8MHz filter installed.
If I were to install the narrow ssb 1.8KHz 8 MHz? filter can I leave the 2.7 KHz installed or must I switch it?
If both are installed would the new filter selection be indicated by the 500Hz indicator for example?
regards,

You can install the?1.8 in the 500 slot. That way you have the factory 2.7 and the aftermarket 1.8. I read this somewhere, can't remember where, Kenwood claims if both 2.7's are used (455 and 8.8) at the same time, the receive is "effectively" 2.4. That may have been in the user manual but not sure. I'll look around.

If you install the 1.8 in the 500hz,8.8 slot, when you choose the 500 filter, you will be using the 1.8 in the 8.8 IF along with whatever you choose for the? 455 IF.

Hope I explained that well enuff.

Thanks Bob,

This is a very recent to me 850s.

I removed the bottom cover and all was revealed. The 2.7KHz filter is soldered in. Additionally there are two optional locations to install more filters. So as you say I will be able to have both filters for ssb use, thats great.?

?Could you or any others comment on the performance of the 1.8KHz filter. Is it really worth it??
