TS-870S rear panel audio input
Now that I've fixed the problem with my ACC2 socket I've been reading about the supposed benefits of using it for audio in instead of the Mic socket. Apart from making the front panel tidier (no mic

Re: TS-870S no TX
Hello Sam I made sure that the indent was correctly aligned, the problem was the excessive amount of force required to push the plug home. I've thrown that cable away now to avoid problems in the

Re: TS-870S no TX
Mike, I don't know that you indicated the radio was mis-behaving when no cable was installed in the socket... As others indicated, the 13-pin DIN male should mate with the female socket EASILY. You

Re: TS-870S no TX
Hi Jordan, I bought an MFJ accessory cable with a 13 pin DIN plug on one end and it goes into the ACC2 socket easily. It looks identical to the other plug that doesn't fit so I don't know where the

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
Thanks John. That's a low price, the last one I saw at a UK dealer was ?699. My PS-31 PSU came from the US, it was in immaculate condition but the courier dropped it and bent the rear

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
The AIP function bypasses the Rx RF amplifier and feeds the Rx signal directly to the mixer, resulting in less gain on Rx...That's why you see less signal on the SM-230 when the AIP is

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
Right. It may not bypass it, as I do see faint activity on the scope, but the signal emitted from the IF out is definitely weaker. 73, David, WU3J

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
I know. I paid about $600 US for one in working order still with original box. I have been looking for one for about 5 years. 73, David, WU3J

Re: TS-870S no TX
Hi Jordan, it just occurred to me that maybe the dealer had identified a fault with the ACC2 socket and put the sticker on to indicate it shouldn't be used! I've ordered another 13 pin DIN cable from

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
I have a TS-870 with matching PSU and loudspeaker, all in immaculate condition. I'd love to get my hands on an SM-230 to complete the lineup but they are like hens' teeth here in the UK. -- Mike

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
It was too long ago for me to remember. I don't think it bypasses 8.83 since I use AIP and the 8.83 CW filters at times. Bob W4JFA gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
I noticed that the band scope display is non functional when the 850 has the Advanced Intercept Point (AIP) enabled. I assume this bypasses the 8.83 MHz IF. Anyone care to have discussion on

Re: Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
I like my 850 too. While I have an Icom IC-7610 (I like the TS-890 too)and appreciate the benefits of SDR and the waterfall display, sometimes I just want to sit down at a radio and have everything
