Re: TS680s Knob
Gary anyone who has a 3D printer can download all kinds of files from places like 'thingyverse', here are just a few of the knob designs available on there. Our club could make them because we have 3D printer, the cost of the filament is next to nothing, time on the printer is sendary to the time to make the design in a CAD type program, and but the cost to mail would make it prohibitive for a single knob. If you can find someone locally who has a printer, it would take minutes to print. It is also possible that one of the designs that are alredy avaiable could be modified. We have made knobs for older radios, and of course you can makes them in whatever color you fancy, but one of the grey filaments seems to be very close to the grey's used by many manufacturers.

Re: TS680s Knob
开云体育Good morning !?? Thank you all for the help with the 680 knob.? ? Special shout out to Samuel for finding the 140 knobs on eBay. I messaged the seller and the knob is the one I needed for the 680.? ? It is a bit different than others so it was a great find indeed (see below)!? 73 everyone and enjoy the weekend… make some great contacts this weekend!? 开云体育Hi Frank, ? I just downloaded the service manual from mods.dk and the part number for that knob is K29-3080-14. ? Why don’t you give Kenwood spare parts a call and see if they have any in stock, if you haven’t already done so? You never know your luck. ? Otherwise, I think others have pointed to knobs on eBay or elsewhere for the TS140S which has the same knobs as it is essentially the same radio except for the extra band. ? 73….Eric VK2VE. ? Re: TS680s Knob
I was thinking, since the 140S and the 680S manuals are the same... they were probably produced concurrently and share just about everything.? Also, I believe the TS-680S is a TS-140S but with the addition of 6M. But don't quote me on it.?
?
Wouldn't hurt to ask the seller to take a picture of the particular knob from a few angles.
?
Anyway, blow up the 2nd image in the ebay item I most recently sent you. Doesn't it look like it is suspended a bit above the plastic compared to the knob to it's right, thereby having a bit of a shaft extension beyond the skirt of the knob?
?
Conceptually, if all else fails, if you found a knob that did fit a 1/2 shaft, you could super glue it's shaft onto another knob's shaft to extend that shaft into the body of the TS-680S.
?
A bit of a MacGyver I know.

Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor
In reviewing the specifications for the SM-230 I note the following:
?
I am going to be operating a TS-850s with an Alpha 87A plus Palstar Auto-HF tuner. Should I place the SM-230 in line between radio and amplifier or after the amplifier? I assume that after the amplifier I am only able to monitor the waveform for 5 minutes. Does the SM-230 in/out SO-239s operate in bypass when the unit is either switched off or with switch set to function other that waveform monitoring?
?
I’d like to be able to leave in inline after amplifier and use sparingly. Otherwise I’ll have to place in between radio and amplifier.

Here's one that is a little pricey but they have a solid reputation: I bought two older models from a ham's estate through a radio club in another state. If you want to reduce the noise at the antenna input, they make a unit that uses phase cancellation of an offending signal or noise. There are plenty of similar ones, like the MFJ-1025/1026. The TimeWave model can be used for diversity reception instead of taking out noise, so it's more versatile than a plain noise canceler. Re: Any Interest in adding Digital Signal Processing Noise Reduction to an older Kenwood Transceiver?
Right, they have many different products. I used one of BHI's un-amplified inline products in a TS-440SAT and thereby can claim having worked on one of two TS-440SAT/DSP models, that I'm aware of. My intent back then was to document it for others to follow based on what I had learned.
?
I'm hoping even if buying these parts for the DSPham project, and putting them in a suitable enclosure it will still be very cost competitive. AND, this project is open source, which means it can be modified by yourself, and possibly enhanced with more algorithms.
Finally, it just provides a lot of functionality for the price.

Re: Any Interest in adding Digital Signal Processing Noise Reduction to an older Kenwood Transceiver?
Just to let everyone know where I am, attached one can find a 14page document with lots of pictures and helpful supplemental information on construction, use and modification of the DSPham project by G. Whaley.
The funny thing that occured to me is that there is no Files section (at least that I am aware of) at this time in this Group.
I might have to ask the moderator about this, but for the moment, I've uploaded it to this message / topic.
Apologies. This isn't the ideal place to park it, and it's usefulness transcends any one manufacturer. If you've got an older rig, and you want to start experimenting with DSP, this is a good starting point.
?
More than likely, the document will be parked somewhere on GitHub, possibly with the source code. I'm asking Graham about what he thinks makes sense.
For as long as it is located in this message, I welcome any feedback which will improve the information contained within.
?
My intentions were to fill in some of the gaps in the very compact instructions in Graham's README.md file on GitHub.
Let me know what you think if you are so inclined.
