I think that any of them will work.....so it's up to you what features you want. I have succeeded with a VNC connection to an old out of date Acer and a newer Lenovo S348. I have had problems

YAAC and Xastir have a way/setting to change to a regional map. However, it accesses by being on the line. There's a check button I didn't notice in Xastir. "Use a new map on restart." This comment

Pat Menu has nothing to do with APRSdroid or APRS. It is an application to help manage Pat Winlink. You can change the map it displays in the Pat Menu settings. There are two choices, USA and World.

I haven't used a Chromebook, but I have used a Windows Laptop that is very similar <$150 or so. The battery life is good and it usually lasts longer than I can in a single session. Ben

Just an FYI: Jason's entire suite (full install) performs perfectly for me even on a plain Raspi3, it does not need to be the 'B+' version. I am able to even run WSJT-X and GridTrack simultaneously,
