Re: Will Not Boot from SSD - At My Wit's End!
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSteve,I appreciate it. I was able to get the RPi back to a useable config using a freshly burned uSD. However, I still cannot perform a cold boot without removing and re-inserting the USB3 adapter. At some point, before I burned another uSD, the RPi wouldn¡¯t even detect the SSD. After perusing various websites not particular to the Argon M.2, I have found this is a known issue and could be related to the latest EEPROM. One website even said to use an EEPROM from September. This also appears to be an intermittent issue but I¡¯m not sure if it¡¯s an intermittent RPi4 issue or an intermittent issue with something else. I don¡¯t think I¡¯m doing anything wrong. I have followed all instructions, watched multiple videos and I still have the same issue - no cold boot, loss of SSD, but reboots to SSD (when it¡¯s not lost). I wish it would have worked. I know it does work for most but I guess I just got a lemon. I have submitted an email to Argon Customer Support but at this point, I¡¯m jaded and have to walk away from it. Thanks, Joel, W4JBB

Problems connecting with IC-705 from RaspberryPi
SCENARIO: Brand new IC-705, firmware v1.11 (out of box)
SYMPTOMS:? FLRig fails to connect; program shows "INITIALIZING" but the program hangs and requires Pi reboot STEPS TAKEN:
Why no devices captured by the RPi?? I can connect a mouse and keyboard that work fine... Can someone please confirm the settings from IC-705 that I should make? Is there something I am not setting properly in the RPi? Thanks, WD4ELG |

Jason, I ran the commands?as you said. "Pi-build" was missing. Once I completed the east?of the commands. everything was back in order.? Thanks for sharing your work with all of us. I suspect something happened during the update and it couldn't download the latest version. To confirm, in a terminal run:
cd ls Now look for "pi-build" in blue. If you don't see it run: git clone https://github.com/km4ack/pi-build.git chmod +x ~/pi-build/conky/setconky and you should be back on track :-) -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: Will Not Boot from SSD - At My Wit's End!
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýslow down... start from
scratch and run first with the uSD with a new copy of OS (No
SSD).? Copy OS to USB SSD and a backup uSD.? Reboot.? (I have
a number of uSD cards for just this reason.? Make backup
copies, often) If that doesn't
work, check and Start over with a
new uSD OS...? I have done that many times when I was first
figuring things out.? small steps.? You may need to
check
?
to see if anything will help...? Make sure the eeprom code (on
your RPi) is the current version (there was a command - last
email). 73, steve WB3LGC

...and now I get a Kernel panic when trying to boot using the old config - RPi4/8GB in the old case with the external SSD.
Rebooting fixed the old config from the previous sentence. Now the top USB3 port on the RPi4 will not work when in the Argon ONE case. The top USB3 port does work in the original case but it acts squirrelly now. Sometimes, I just want stuff to work. I don't mind fiddling with stuff but I have a career already. I don't need another one. Yes, if it shows, I am beyond frustrated.?I'm just sending it all back and using what I know works. Thanks for trying to help but for me, the juice just ain't worth the squeeze. Regards, Joel, W4JBB |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have had no
problem with SSD.? I use a SSD to USB3 cable.? May be a good
place to step back to (take the Argon case out of the
equation).? Are you sure you have updated the eeprom ?? "ETA Prime" has good video.? I first saw how to do it. I have been using this set of commands: ------------------------------ sudo apt update???? sudo apt full-upgrade sudo rpi-update sudo reboot sudo apt install rpi-eeprom sudo nano /etc/default/rpi-eeprom-update replace ¡°critical¡± with ¡°stable¡±?? {was ¡°beta¡± per old youtube}? Could be ¡°default¡± too <ctrl> x , y, and Enter sudo rpi-eeprom-update -d -f /lib/firmware/raspberrypi/bootloader/stable/pieeprom-2021-02-16.bin (WAS) sudo rpi-eeprom-update -d -f /lib/firmware/raspberrypi/bootloader/beta/pieeprom-2020-05-15.bin and pieeprom-2020-06-15.bin sudo reboot vcgencmd bootloader_version vcgencmd bootloader_config --------------------------------------------------- Also See:

BAP 3.0.6 to 3.0.7 Update Error
#bap
I was updating a Pi 3B+ from BAP 3.0.6 to 3.0.7 and I encountered an error. I believe the BAP update did not load correctly. Has anyone run into this??
I rebooted the Pi and selected "Build-a-Pi" and noted the thumbnail for BAP was no longer there (see the attached jpg). The thumbnail for "Conky-Prefs" is not there either. When clicking on "Build-a-Pi" i get an error message (see the attached jpg). Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks, Fred/N7PN |
Re: Pat Menu no Ardop connection
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy version of Pat Menu must be older. ?Possibly going back to when it was first released via an install video. ?I just haven¡¯t used it until now. ?It is the version with the nice GUI. ?I have to goto the command line to set ARDOP PTT to true. ?Also in direwolf it is already uncommented. My problem with direwolf is that it won¡¯t start. ?

Juddie, Perhaps also try "dock", "panel", or "normal" instead of "desktop".? Per that particular article, "dock" was suggested. On Sun, Apr 11, 2021 at 12:17 PM <wvhunter129@...> wrote: Larry, |

I feel confident that your boot images are fine.? I'm guessing there is some hardware quirkiness involved here and I would probably contact the manufacturer's of the case and describe this behavior to them. Don seems to be onto something with regards to the USB3 "replug".? I hope he will tell us more. On Mon, Apr 12, 2021 at 8:18 AM W4JBB <joel.b.black@...> wrote: Dave, |
Re: Will Not Boot from SSD - At My Wit's End!
Dave,
The hardware is correct (directly from my order page): SSD:? Argon One m.2 case:? I got it to boot once from a cold start. It quit after that. I burned another SD card and copied to the SSD at that point thinking something was wrong with the copy. I do still have the original SD card. All warm restarts work fine. Cold boots do not work unless I unplug and replug the USB3 jumper from the RPi to the SSD. I will take a look at CrossTalk Solutions video later this morning. I'm actually looking forward to my dentist appointment now. :D Thanks, Joel, W4JBB |
Re: Pi stopped transmitting with latest BAP - Signalink
Hi Dave,
I'm wondering if I was just hearing other traffic on the frequency and I might not, in fact, be heard. I opened up Direwolf and can clearly monitor packet traffic on multiple frequencies. But my Winlink transmission might be heard and thus replied to. I've rechecked everything--used last known good settings and also started from scratch. Oh well, more work to do. This is the Silicon Power A55 and Argon One case?? I'm guessing as I'm not sure which video is the "YT Video". If so, you might want to take a look at this:? The author was having trouble with intermittent M.2 connectivity.? But, let me get some clarification.? You mention you only got the setup to boot _ONE_ time, presumably from a cold start.? But you mention reboots (warm) work.? So, you cold started one time, then rebooted multiple times successfully?? Then, apparently tried another cold start and it hasn't worked since?
