Re: Cannot get past enter sudo password when trying to instal 73 linux
#73linux
Thanks all.
?
Thought about the caps lock and went as far as typing it out on a doc and cut/ pasting it.
?
I have read that in mint the sudo pswd is not assigned and to use your login pswd. I will try leaving it blank, or look at going in and setting one.??
?
Y'know this is just one of those weeks. Tracked down wifi issues to my AREDN router throwing flack at my main router and also have also been trying to convince Win11 to let chirp talk to a Quanshen UV-k5 using the same setup/cable that works on another cptr.? ?Thinking I should just? switch to a nice relaxing hobby like target indicating on a grenade range :P
?
If I do find out what is going on I will post an update.

Are you sure you have a sudo password? I don't use mint but some linux systems allow it to be empty. The next time it asks for it, try leaving the field blank and see if it accepts that. |

Check to make sure that your caps lock isn't on since the password is case sensitive.

Thanks for the reply.

It isn't Mint asking, it is the 73linux installation. The dialogue box pops up shortly after you choose which programs you wish to install.

Re: Cannot get past enter sudo password when trying to instal 73 linux

开云体育I don't know the specific Mint Linux install process, but it sounds like Mint is asking you to *create* a sudo password, and it is programmatically rejecting using your user password for sudo. That's just a guess, maybe it will help. Cannot get past enter sudo password when trying to instal 73 linux
#73linux
I have a lenovo laptop running Mint. Decided to load 73Linux. Twice I have gotten to dialogue box prompt where it asks me to enter my sudo password. I do not know what it is looking for but it will not accept my password. What am I doing wrong? Only password I have ever set on the cptr is the sign in which I believe is also used as the sudo pswd.

Thankfully I had made a snapshot in timeshift, so easy to reset to square one.?

Thanks for any help

Re: Wifi Drivers
Hello...I'm trying to do this as well.
?
I'm not using Mint, so the recent Mint fix, won't help me.
?
I tried the above but ended up a dead end.? Did anyone have luck using the new process as outlined in rtw88...
?
I am not sure the sequence that I need to follow exactly...

This is all going on an Evolve III btw...

Re: Winlink - Piardopc error
Thanks for your replies.. I took Matt's idea, and installed piardopc64 and piardop_GUI64.? I ensured ALSO was installed as well.? When I entered the command ~/adrop/piardop64 plughw:1,0 plughw:1,0, I get an error (see below).,? Not sure if this has to do with ardop or if it has more to do with the audio setup.? My Pi 4 is connected to a Signalink USB interface, which is attached to my ICOM IC-718.
?
So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but any pointers are greately appreciated.? Thanks!

Re: Can the new Evolve III be upgraded?
开云体育Tom,
I bought ten Evolve III laptops before Christmas 2023 and they were loaded with Win11.? I gave most of them away as Christmas gifts, but probably have at least one in relatively new install state.? What would you want to know from them?
They seem to be identical to the previous Win10 models but we're imaged with Win11 using one of the TPM bypass methods out there.

I'd love to see the back sticker on the unit that has windows 11 loaded.? You are the only person, so far, that has reported a Windows 11 install.? This is great news!

Re: Autostart JS8Call attached to QDX/QRP radio
开云体育I followed the link to
? and added the lines suggested to my /usr/bin/Start_js8call.sh script ------------------------------------------------ /home/pi (in my case)/.bashrc /home/pi/.profile ? export PULSE_RUNTIME_PATH=”/run/user/$(id -u)/pulse/” export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=”/run/user/$(id -u)” ? PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin Export DISPLAY=:0.0 ? While this fixed the problem (js8call not starts fine via the Start_js8call.sh script from crontab) I’m frustrated that I don’t really know what those lines resolved (still wobbly with Linux). ? I'm really out of my league here, but feel your pain trying to understand sound devices under Linux with my own QDX, QMX, and X6100 radios and vanilla Debian. ? It's probably, first of all, an environment thing.? Cron jobs run under their own limited environment that comes and goes with the job.? Apparently the display environment is available to the job or else you wouldn't even have the JS8/WSJT-X GUI show up.? I'm guessing that you're logged in as a user with a graphical environment when the cron job launches, otherwise there would be no display environment, either. ? Again merely guessing, the ALSA devices are:? a) unavailable to the user under which the job runs;? b) considered busy and not made available to the temporary environment set during the job;? or c) available under the job environment, but the "connection" to them ends when the job environment disappears and JS8Call is left with some null reference.? Regarding (a), believe it or not, root is blocked from some system services - I presume for the sake of security - so could very well NOT have access to audio services when executing a job. ? These threads might be helpful:? ?
? The solution may basically be getting your login environment shared with the job so the devices are seen persistently.? The threads above have some troubleshooting suggestions that show whether the ALSA devices are even available when the job runs. ? Good luck!? Let us know when you figure it out. ? 73, ? ?? Dan ? ? |
Re: Can the new Evolve III be upgraded?
开云体育Hi There!
The Evolve III will have an SIM card slot along the left side of the base if there is a modem.
If there is no modem, the motherboard will not have the M.2 socket.? If it does, then you can pull the modem and insert an M.2 memory card.? I don't know the maximum size allowed as I have kept the modem in place for the units that have them.
I have some units with Window 10 and others with Windows 11.? They came that way and I haven't figured out a way to do the upgrade, but will want to do so at some point.? Anyone figured that out yet and are there major concerns in doing it while
bypassing the TPM version requirements?
Thanks!

I recently bought an Evolve III.? How do I know if it has the cellular modem?? If not, what kind of SSD does it accept?

Sorry for the very basic question.
