Re: Build a Pi 3.0.3 Released

There is an issue with WSJT-x ver 2.2.2 running WSPR in band hopping mode. It crashes! It also does it on my Laptop running the same version. I had an older version on another pi as well as an older version on my laptop and they both work fine.?

My problem is that I can't find an older version for the Pi. ver 2.2.1 which works ok on both machines. When I search for add/remove programs on the pi, it only comes up with the latest 2.2.2.?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
-Mike

Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

Try this again.?

I was looking at this with a Pi case on the back

Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

Sold out?

Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

I want one. I wonder what the input voltage is from the power brick??

I also wonder if the GPS issue with USB3 would be present and if the GPS dongle would work in the case.?

Re: Case Options

Looks great!!

Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

Could easily fit a UBEC inside to power it. Add power connector of choice and you would be up and running.?

Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

Cool, although I won't be throwing away the pi strapped to my radio.??

Carrying this as a control surface however, would add redundancy?should you have a failure out in the field, especially if you add a buck converter module for 12 V power, RTC and sound card which look like they would all fit neatly inside the box.?

Definitely?something to watch.

Re: FT-891 and WSJT-X irregular transmission

This is a bit of an old topic but I wanted to update the group.?

I recently purchased a Signalink and my previous issue is gone. WSJT-X works just fine with my MacBook?Pro or my Raspberry Pi.

I think the problem was probably with the 6pin DIN cable from my FT-891 to the sound card. I'll get a new one soon and see if that works.?

Thanks,

J

I've tested several different configurations with cables, removed GPS, USB hubs and not,? and added ferrite beads (maybe I need different beads, recommendations?). Only thing I haven't done yet is shorten my USB cable and I'm afraid to do that. Will probably try to find a shorter one.?

All of that to say I still haven't solved the issue. Now that I understand what is going on, my setup is pretty much unusable. I'll get a CQ to transmit, get a few replies and then can't get a transmit signal out again to answer in a timely manner.?

Any other suggestions? Try a different sound card (Signalink) or other sound cable source?

To sum up, system seems to work just fine when something is transmitted. I have made QSOs and my signal is going around the world when it leaves the shack.

Thanks?again,

J.

The only time I have had this issue before, there was RF getting back into the pi. Try shorting all of the cables as much as possible and add ferrite beads to every cable. You might even want to remove all nonessential cables during testing.

Re: Hamclock 2.510 vs 2.51

Hey there, just saw this. I actually got 2.51 to run using nohup. I¡¯m actually using an an old Sony all-in-one computer as the monitor for the zero (it has an hdmi input).

Yeasu FT-890 connects to JS8 but not FL-Rig #PI4

So, I got a Yeasu FT-890 with the USB Cat controller, on a Raspberry Pi-4, 4 gig, running Build-a-Pi. I was able to connect to FL-Rig 3 times, and now it keeps saying the radio is not responding. Although, I can connect to JS8 rig control without issue at all it works seamlessly. Any ideas on what might be going on??

Try using the terminal or ssh and enter the sudo raspi-config command.? Then:

1. Go to Boot Options, and change to Boot to console.?
2. Go to Interfacing Options, enable VNC.

Back out to where you can highlight finish and select it.

At the command prompt, type sudo reboot.? From now on, you can boot to the console by plugging the monitor in, or to headless by unplugging the monitor and rebooting.? I do this on my pi zero w and 3B+.

Re: Case Options

My OCD got the best of me. Went back and used stepped hole saw to just make one big opening and put fiberglass window screen over from the bottom. Saw wasn¡¯t quite big enough to completely eradicate one of the original holes but it was close enough i could cover it with a label hihi.

Re: Screen Size for VNC

I set mine up at the max resolution. You can always use pinch zoom on the tablet if you need to see something a bit larger on the screen.

Re: Headed to Headless Conversion

Alternatively, if you don't have the Pi set up to auto login and boot to the desktop on startup, then you will have to SSH into the Pi to log in to continue the boot up. You should then be able to load VNC. You can check/change whether it boots to desktop or command line by running sudo rapsi-config from the command line.
