Re: Revisiting ExaGear (on the Pi 4B) - HRD*, antenna modeling software, and more

N3FJP's logging software seems to run a little slow, but otherwise works.? I'm not super familiar with it, so you may have to check and see if it's missing any functionality, but everything I've tested seems to work so far.

I've been doing a lot of tinkering and need to test all this with a fresh exagear install at some point, but I made more progress and believe I have the lines of code that were responsible for the fixes.

I had to adjust my by adding on the following:

# Fix errors with .mdb files not opening or being created

winetricks dotnet45 # this will uninstall mono?

# Note: After .NET 4.0 installs, wine will appear to be erroring in a loop.? Let it run its weird error loops for about 15 minutes.? After this time a .NET 4.5 installer will pop up and you can install that.? Install goes much faster on a Pi 4B (about 30 minutes) than on a Pi 3B+ (about 1.5 hours).? The Pi 3B+ will also overheat a few times during install and kick you out of any VNC remote connections while it cools down - just let it keep running (Pi 4B didn't have this problem).

# The installer will then set windows version to 2003 (this may mean we may need to change wine Windows 7 with winecfg temporarily just to install HRD, but then maybe try switching back to 2003)

? ?# https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=31625

I was also able to get the internet working for HRD and N3FJP (and internet explorer) with the following:
# Fix "err:winediag:schan_imp_init Failed to load libgnutls, secure connections will not be available."
sudo cp /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgnutls-deb0.so.28 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.26
? ?# Better solution might be to create a symlink instead of copying the library
? ?# https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32479#c9
? ?# https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T158436
Still no HRD Digital Master 780 yet, but I'm hopeful :)
?
I'll keep fiddling with it and get back to you if I get a more refined install procedure.

Re: Geekworm Pi hats/accessories?

Sweet.? I ordered the 857 last night along with the docker pi power hat.? And a pi 4 8 gb.? Lol.? New build for a new project.

Re: Geekworm Pi hats/accessories?

Yup.? I'm using it.? It's great.? Very fast and fully powered via USB port.? Runs cool.? MSATA is actually pretty ideal for raspberry pi.??

Re: #flmsg HF and 2M #flmsg

Thank you.? Since the RX station has to have FLMSG as well, this will not work for interoperability for those not using a PC and WinLink.

If you don't mind beta software and are comfortable installing from the command line, check out this post.
If you need support installing, the guys there should be able to help.

Jason

I've loaded the Beta PatMenu V 3.

I just plugged the same USB hub from the PI 4 into my Windows Machine. Set up the Kiss TCP 8100 and autostart UZ7HO and started downloading Winlink Messages.?
Something is not being picked up and past to Deirwolf.?

From Mylog.

Re: #flmsg HF and 2M #flmsg

FYI. I've used FLDIGI and it's programs with the Satern Digital on Saturday. I know that each station must have Flmsg on their PC. I did find that there is some EOC Communication use FLmsg with Winlink. My thought is what happens if an NGO is not equipped. I'll be glad when Pat Winlink Guru's can incorporate?Winlink Template, if they have regular email, at least they get text.? I'll be switching over from Windose to Linux on Emergency Laptops at the Salvation Army EOC in Abbotsford. Although running Linbpq to me is a royal pain in my mind. I can set up a Winlink Gateway in an hour but with Linux, it would be a month or so.

Geekworm Pi hats/accessories?

Any experience with this brand of pi hats, etc?? ?Looking specifically at x857 for a slicker sata interface.

Re: New Raspberry Pi

Haven't ordered mine yet. Just ordered a couple of 4B 4gigs. Less than a week later they announce the 8Gig!? Storry of my life. Buy something, and a few weeks later someone else has it at half the price!!

I'm looking forward to one, but I think for me it would be better off as a desktop/test bed for playing with. Too much for a device to run a radio at this time. Most of this software works just fine on 1 gig, so the 4gig should be fine. I might have to order it and send it to a friends and have him sneak it to me so my wife does not see another Pi coming into the house. I've got a few 3's, 4 originals that are all running away doing their lobs.

Like I say the 8gig will be my mini desk top. If I want to test any programs, Or Jason has gotten me into picking apart his scripts, so I can learn a bit. So it will allow me to experiment. There seems to be a lot of people upset about it for some reason?? I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

Steven
Steven,

DO NOT BUY AN 8GB PI 4. <-----There.....now I have proof and you can't blame it on me when the wife is mad. LOL

Need help Please!

Edited

Hello everyone, I'm new to the group. KM4ACK recommended posting my issue discovered while watching his youtube video:

I have a UBX-G6010 KY-172 (should be newest model), running ls -l /dev/serial/by-id informs me to utilize ttyACM0 in my sudo nano /etc/default/gpsd configuration.? Both systemctl is-active gpsd and systemctl is-active chronyd come up active.? I also have a blinking green light on my unit.??

I can't figure out why cgps -s, gpsmon -n, and xgps will not run / populate with data unless I unplug and reinsert my device.? Then they work.? I'm suspecting a port conflict.? I have 2 other bluetooth transmitter devices installed (keyboard & joystick).? I removed those , rebooted and it did'nt resolve the issue. I noted in the comments of the video at least one other guy having this same issue.?

Today I tried running the posted command gpsmon -n. It takes quite a bit and then this comes up on the screen.
tcp://localhost:2947 JSON slave driver> Only available in low-level mod (82) {"class":"VERSION","release":"3.17","rev":"3.17","proto_major":3,"proto_min

Any help or suggestions anyone can offer to get this to work smoothly is greatly appreciated.
I previously installed software package from DL1GKK's web site.? I note that overlay info on right side of my pi desktop goes away after reboot until I pull device out.? Then it magically reappears.? ?Might be software conflict??
Thanks 73 KM6QAQ
