Did find a work around. I had previously downloaded Hamrs and had it in my Downloads. Copied, renamed it to /usr/local/bin. Now works just fine. The file in Downloads had a longer name, hence the

Can you post a copy of you gpsd file please (/etc/default/gpsd) and tell us which radio you are using. Do you have the GPS connected at boot? I have a crazy weekend with work so it may be next week

You can also add a blank file named ssh in the boot directory and it will start with ssh enabled login pi password raspberry. This is a good guide for setting it up without needing a lan connection
