For grins and giggles, check your /boot/cmdline.txt file and if it shows root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 change it to root=/dev/sda2 and see if that makes a difference.

I think the command to restart PAT was my issue and that info was left out (or I missed it altogether). For giggles I did what Tom mentioned… restarted PAT, updated templates and then restarted PAT
