Does the club have business cards? I'm just sorting through a drawer full of cards I've collected through the years and found that I have a few from Lake Area. The recent thread with the ARRL membership, and discussing the club's much more precipitous membership dip makes me want to revisit the local outreach we did recently. Personally I find it hard to believe that 600+ things were mailed out to local hams and we got 1 person to come? That's more dismal than the typical marketing return of around 5%-10% which should have netted us 30 to 60 responses. Where did that address list come from? Can a fresh list be acquired again? What was sent out? I think it was a postcard, but I don't think I have a copy of it to look it over and see what the call to action was. And the cost was? My first thoughts would be, if we were paying for first class, then did we send a letter? Because picking up on Tim's thought, a personal invitation is going be more effective than a "marketing postcard" Given the status of the club membership, and the outlook vs. our other membership outreach programs (none at the moment) I'd like to revisit the idea of a mailer, but I need to know what didn't work, to have an idea of what not to do. Please balance the amount of information on a page versus font size, leaning toward a font size that can be easily read by the audience. Use as many pages as you need. Yep, you got it! (I forgot to hit send yesterday) Now that they have this email address they may try to scam others in this group. Please note, anyone else receiving these emails, the attacker will attempt to hurry you through with vague statements indicating that there's a critical need, it's authorized by the highest level in the company, and it to be sent via UNREFUNDABLE payment methods. This includes Zelle, Wire Transfers, Cash App, (sometimes) Paypal, Crypto (usually bitcoin). If you send this funding to the scammers (this group, personal lives, primary job) the money is gone and cannot be recovered. Remember that police will never ask for payment over the phone, presidents of companies have their patterns, if the pattern changes, has urgency or coercion, immediately challenge them, a true CEO will have no problems proving themselves and no transaction will have issues if you take the 10 minutes to verify them.
