The Trike ride was fantastic. The Trike performed perfectly. The weather was awesome. I woke up at 4:30am and was on the Trike at 5:30am. (Zero dark thirty) Streets were completely vacant. I set a comfortable (slow) pace, and simply kept going. I needed no rest breaks, but stopped to snap a few photos and chug some water a few times. My route plan worked better than I expected. I was able to park right by the entrance door, unlike many other hams who drove big metal vehicles. I stayed on my feet walking around at the Bash most of the day. After the Bash it felt great to be physically able to help teardown and cleanup. I remember just a few years ago when it was all I could do to hobble into the Temple, find a chair, put my feet up on another chair, then hobble back to the vehicle to go home to nurse my burning legs. It has been a gigantic difficult 5 year journey to get to this point and I'm blessed to be where I am. My ride home was joyful. I even sang (poorly) a few songs along the way. I had more left in my legs. I easily could have ridden further, but there was no need. I miss the the Shrine Temple and appreciate the "Funderful" job Chet, Larry, and the rest of the Shriners did for so many years. What a legacy! Met familiar faces. Introduced to several new faces. I didn't win any door prizes (why break my 40 yr hamfest losing streak now?) However, right after I joked with N0GSG about him always winning, he won a door prize. Then as I was chatting with new ham Quinten N0QQD, he gets called as the GRAND PRIZE WINNER! Congratulations Quinten. I"m happy for you. [Sarcasm Alert below] I never considered myself as a lucky charm before. Next year should I start charging a fee for hams to get a luck enhancing conversation with me? "Endure the torture and humiliation of talking with me and win prizes." Now there"s a way to attract customers. Seriously though, nice job by the RARC team to pull the Hambash together with so little lead time. I'm looking forward to an even better Hambash in 2026. I'll Trike there again, weather, health, and schedule permitting. Wait! I take it back. My 40yr hamfest losing streak is over. My journey WAS my Grand Prize. Being able to walk and ride is worth far more than any gift certificate or new radio could ever possibly be. I am another Grand Prize Winner! Mark NR0R

Many Thanks! 3
Many many thanks to everyone in the club that helped put on such an amazing Hambash event. It would not have been possible without all of your help. Most especially, to Joe Rinella KG0HG for lining up and managing the presentations with very little help from anyone else. To Phil Frame KF0LHD, who tirelessly worked on getting our Trailer ready for display, shuttling things to and from, and helping setup/tear down...operating our talk in station and generally just being wherever we needed him as usual. To Jerry Dixon and Jen Albright for their constant support from the KC Wide side.. To Dave Hinkley KA0SOG for manning the doors and providing instructions to attendees and vendors. To John Totzke who manned the admit table and handled all of the tireless transactions necessary to support what we believe was over 400 attendees and 70 vendor tables! I can tell you he handled more 5$ bills yesterday than most bank tellers on payday Friday lol. To Robin Cross, Tim Zang, Joe Rinella, and Wayne Oyler (and all of the rest of the VE Testing team) for their hard work in providing a completely successful testing session - where we had 10 individuals test. We also had several people apply to be new members of the club, several old members rejoin, and several folks pay their dues for this year and future years. And to everyone else in the club that showed up and helped support this event - we knew going into this event that it was going to be challenging, finding a venue, and then having to have it on a less than ideal date... and we took all of those obstacles and smashed right through them to create an amazing event. I have heard from several vendors and a slew of attendees that this was one of the best Hamfests they've been to in this region... attendance was phenomenal... prizes were plentiful... Overall the club did extremely amazingly, and represented not just ourselves but the greater Kansas City Ham community quite well this week. None of that happens without all of your support! SO thank you, thank you and thank you for all that EACH AND EVERYONE of you do for this club. Now, on to the next event - lets have some fun guys! Thanks, Jeremiah KC4CAD President - Raytown Amateur Radio Club

Here are a few pictures from the day. They don’t do the day justice with all of the work and effort- thanks Jeremiah/KC4CAD, as well as many volunteers in pulling this off. We had around 400 attendees, well attended and informative presentations and meetings, some delicious food, customized embroidery, 10 amateur radio exams administered, many vendor tables full of interesting gear, and fun and fellowship. Hope you enjoyed the event, and let’s look forward to another great Hambash 2026!

Hambash and Newsletter
Our President, Jeremiah KC4CAD, along with our Board and a few other volunteer members have diligent getting our Hambash going. Friday, as in tomorrow evening at 6:45, we earnestly need your help. We have 100 tables and 200 chairs to set up and position at Raytown High School. We have signs to hang and meeting rooms to set up. Just ten people will cut the workload down to 9 tables each. I am about half done with the Newsletter. It always takes longer than I expect it to. I will get it out next week with a wrap up of how Hambash went. If you get any good photos at the Hambash please pass them along to me. Please pitch in. de KA0SOG Dave Hinkley

Hi Group, This is Holly, not Robin. As you know, Robin and I do a lot of volunteer work with REAP. Due to the addition of a new store that will be donating food and other stuff to REAP, we need an additional pickup person for either Monday or Thursday morning. For those of you who are retired, this would be a great RARC community outreach activity. You don't need a special driver's license to drive the van, just a few muscles to load boxes in the van. If anyone would like to and be able to help, just let me know. Thanks, Holly KA0VTB Robin Cross w0fen ret CE KCUR, WNIU / WNIJ at
