Trying to Join Placeholder Group
If you see a message like:
Hello,
[email protected] applied to join your group [email protected]. Because the group is restricted, you will need to approve their subscription before they can join.
This means someone that wants to join our forum has mistakenly tried to join our placeholder forum.? We reserved [email protected]?simply to prevent someone else from claiming it.? It is a closed forum.
Here is the correct procedure to handle this:
- ?REJECT the request
- Email the person and tell them that? [email protected] is a closed placeholder group.? cc the moderators so we don't bury him/her in similar messages.? Here is sample text to send:
Hi -
The REAL group is?[email protected]??I'll send you an official invitation.[email protected]?is a placeholder so that it isn't available for someone else to take. - Using their email address, send them an official invite from the real forum
