Hi,
I will be travelling SOBO mid-august and probably take the suggested Piute pass detour. Seems like a big stretch for one day though. I understood that you can hitchhike between the north and south lake but still a long way.
Shifting through forums it seems that I could spend a night before and after switching from one trailhead to another, so before leaving north lake and after entering south lake. is that so?
- where is it advisable and allowed to camp over night, before proceeding?
Is there any new standard by now?
- lamarck col also should be possible mid-august? depending on snow conditions of course. I don't plan to take crampons or ice axe with me..

south?
