Hej Cristina,
it is not my first trip in the Sierra, my BV500 has crossed the pond more than once. I had bought it at REI on 2019. You can make a reservation before online, then they hold it for you up to 2 weeks on the selected shop, if you fear that they run out of stock.
Cowboy camping: it was the only time I did it. Was ok, at 11700 ft / 3500 m, temperature still +8°C past midnight when I started. I just wanted to leave all my stuff and the tent at Crabtree Meadows, but do the first 4 miles / 1000 ft elevation gain in the evening before.

Hello Henning
Yes that you’ll be an option, I feel like I might not get it though :)
Love that you shared trail conditions with pictures.?
How did you handle the bear vault? Did you fly it in with your luggage? Or did you buy in the us?
I’m not sure what’s best?
Thx
Cristina
How did Cowboy Camping work for you?

Hi Christine,
you may consider to buy the tent in the US? - I got my Durston Xmid pro1 for the PCT delivered to a friend in the US, but a hotel address or PO General Delivery (check that this PO offers General Delivery) may work, too.

Hi guys, I will be doing the JMT in August and thinking of saving weight. Whats your experience - will a tarp be enough or should I go with a tent?
I'm from Europe so will probably choose Nemo Horner OSMO 1P or Big Agnes - Fly Creek HV UL1 or Big Agnes Tiger Wall. Thank you, Christine
