From the
Yosemite wilderness permits page? :
"Twelve days after the lottery application period begins
for any given week (i.e., the Friday 22 weeks in advance),
reservations for all trailheads that still have space will
become available (until seven days in advance) at 9 am PT. Any
later cancellations will become available immediately."
Looks like
they plan to revert to the pre-covid method for walk ups.
"Permits are available in-person on a first-come, first-served
basis at permit issuing stations starting at 11 am one day
before intended start date."
I would think
that they would remove the full trailheads report since that
information is available on recreation.gov.

Hi Karina - that I don¡¯t know. I¡¯d assume the walk-ups will
operate like last year? Looks like there are 6 for HI-LYV pass
through and 12 for Lyell. Unclaimed or returned permits I¡¯d assume
will be the same - frequently check the available permits and if
you see one pop up then apply directly for that date and hope you
get it? TBH I¡¯m not sure how or if the recreation dot com booking
system will be linked to the Yosemite full trailheads report?
Inga is probably the best source of information on the
nuances of the permit system this year¡
?
Lange, so how is the left overs from Lottery permits working
out now ?
Are we suppose to apply for them directly ones the
lottery eligible week is closed ?
When they are not yet ¡° walk -ups ¡°?
I love the increase of Illiluette quota ?

?Looks like with the exclusion of GP,
Sunrise and HI->LYV permits from "Donohue
eligibility", the compromise was to open the full
daily quota of HI->past LYV to JMT hikers.
I appreciate this probably isn't your permit
preference, but worth noting that the Yosemite Permit
Quota page indicates that they have increased the
HI->LYV daily quota from 30 to 45, and the
HI->Illilouette daily quota from 5 to 30,
presumably to compensate for the reduced permit
availability at other trailheads in 2022 (and
beyond?). Hopefully they will eventually reinstate
some of the "non-Donohue" HI->past LYV quota...
