IC765 SWR protect
4
Hi, I just received a IC765 (IC760pro Japan version) and it still have a TX issue. Before that, I replaced 4 trimmers in PLL and 1 trimmer in BFO, and she receive beautifully. For TX adjustments, I already set the bias in PA unit according the service manual, and it looked ok. But the power out is just about 10W. I checked all the voltages in predriver, drivers, and finals, and all are correct according to the manual, hence I believe that PA unit is ok. When I switch the meter to SWR mode and hit the PTT, then the SWR peg to the right, and I suspect the problem is about SWR protect and decreases the power output to only about 10W. I checked the block diagram, and then I disconnected the SWR detect pin (2 cables, red and brown) in Filter unit. I hit the PTT again, and voila, my dummy load showed 150W output. So I believe the problem in the SWR protect, and perhaps in ALC as well. Can someone give me a clue to me for a start in checking? Any help will be appreciate. 73s, Adhi

CR-2025 battery replacement for ICOM 751
14
I need/want to replace my memory CR-2025 battery with tabs in my IC751 transceiver. Where can I buy a couple CR-2025 with tabs that are good quality and have a somewhat recent date code on them? I was looking at past posts regarding an upgrade non volatile memory board but I don't think they are available anymore. So if that is the case I need to replace the battery. (I understand you need to supply 3 volts to the volatile memory while replacing the CR-2025 } Anyone on here with good advice? Lee, w0vt

IC-551 for sale
Finally (for now), here is my IC-551 SSB/AM/CW/FM 6M transceiver that I am offering for sale. It is operational, but as with the others, has some scratchy pots, etc. It has been outfitted with the optional EX-106 FM Unit and the EX-107 Vox Unit installed. It does not have the EX-108 PBT unit. It has a sensitive receiver and it was my introduction to SSB DXing on 6M. It comes with all of the originally supplied accessories, including the hand microphone, as well as the original boxes for the 551 and the EX-106 and EX-107. I had a lot of fun with this! I am hopeful that someone will put it on the air or else add it to a ham radio museum. Please see the attached photo. If interested, please make me an offer. IC-211 for sale
Up next is a nicely kept IC-211 2M SSB/CW/FM transceiver. This was my introduction to the world of 2M SSB. It's in good shape for its age, given the usual caveats about scratchy pots. It powers up, but it needs repair before it can be used because the synthesizer is unlocked. It worked fine before that started happening. It has the modification that makes the squelch work on SSB as well as FM. It comes with the original manual, accessories (including hand mic), and the box as seen in the attached photo. Please make offer if interested. It would be great if someone would restore this and put it into operation, or put it on display in a ham radio museum. It worked quite well for me. Also please take a look at my ICOM 735 for sale: /g/ICOM/topic/ic_735_for_sale/112086062 -- 73, Edgar - K9RE

IC-735 for sale
I have a nice IC-735 transceiver for sale that I'm no longer using. This was once my dream rig. It's in decent shape for its age, with a few scratchy pots and some operational issues above 20 MHz; probably VCO related. It might need to have the plastic trimmers replaced. It has the accessory 250 Hz CW filter installed. It also comes with the supplied accessories including the hand mic (never used), the original manual, and the full ICOM service manual (not a copy), It it in the original box. I am sure it is fixable, and there are people who work on these if you don't want to. I don't need it, so I thought I would offer it for sale. The package originally sold for around $1,000 in November, 1986. If interested, please make offer. See attached picture. -- 73, Edgar - K9RE

IC-706mk2
Hey all, looking for a good high-resolution image of the main board on an IC-706mk2. I found several service manuals online but can’t find one with a good enough image of the main board. I’m fighting a distorted CTCSS tone in TX. Thanks for your help! Jim – AA7CL

FS: Rigblaster Plus digital modes interface
3
I have a Westmountain Radio Rigblaster Plus soundcard interface to do digital modes from your computer with your rig. Great for FT8/FT4, PSK31, and other soundcard modes. It comes with the the usual Rigblaster cables to interface with the radio and soundcard-and the DB-9 to DB-9 to use for PTT switching if you need it. Has two of the round mic to RJ45 cables to interface your radio with the rigblaster as well. I will also include a parts unit Rigblaster which doesn't power on, and some of the cables that come with it. - This package will need a power cord or wall-wort as I don't have one for the Rigblaster plus. You can wire it for any model radio just by changing some of the jumpers in the rigblaster. I will include an extra RJ45 cable so you can interface the rigblaster between it and a radio using a RJ45 mic connector, and then use a 8 pin round mic thru the rigblaster, if you like. - It also comes with a homebrew audio switching box which probably contains some good parts in it for projects as well. - I am asking $33 shipped in the US and can take paypal/check/MO. - 73 John AF5CC

Icom IC-7800 LCD display
Has anyone replaced their original LCD display on their Icom 7800? There is a Ham in Europe that sells new LED displays to install in the 7800 for an attractive price. Problem is I just spoke with an Icom Service tech that told me you can't put in a newer LED display without replacing the module board as well. The LED display will not work with the old LCD module board. When Icom came out with the MK11 version, both the LCD and the module board were changed. Has anyone had experience replacing the original display in their Icom 7800? Thanks.

746/756 backlight fix kit
13
Those of you who have a 746 (pro) or 756 (pro) probably already know about the backlight problem. The prevention is to keep it at or close to full brightness (not intuitive, but that's the way the circuit works). If you're unfortunate enough to have a burned out backlight, a Canadian ham offers two versions of a kit and it works on the 746 and 756 and pro versions of the radio. https://www.qrz.com/db/ve3tmt (the kits are near the bottom of the long web page) It's not cheap. One kit version is $65 and the other (has more components already assembled) is $85. Installation is another $125 plus shipping both ways if you want him to do the work. I'm pretty sure the $125 does not include the cost of the kit and is separate, but the kits come with directions. I'm considering getting an IC-7300 at the Hamvention, which might provide a good price because of the competition there. With rebate, the cost online right now is less than $1,000, and I think you can get free shipping from some outlets. I would hope to see another $100 off on a Hamvention special price but we'll see. If not, I can wait longer rather than use most of my short term savings to buy it and who knows, the price might go down more later on in the year. If I buy one, I might sell my 746 Pro (this isn't an announcement of a sale). Fortunately, the backlight is in good operating condition and I always leave it at full brightness, and everything works and it's in good overall condition. I would like a rig with a waterfall display, and the filters on the 7300 seem to be terrific on the YouTube videos I've watched. I especially like how well it can pick out a CW signal with nearby (frequency) interference. IC-761 AM audio mods
10
Hello all, I am repairing an IC-761 for a friend and he was wondering if there were any mods to improve the AM transmit audio. I found mention of one, but the author doesn't go into specifics, and I can't get a hold of him. Thanks in advance for your help! 73, Greg K2GTM

IC-761 frequency mode shift
3
Hello all, I am repairing an IC-761 for a friend and I noticed something odd. Does anyone know why the frequency changes when switching modes? For example, here is what I get when switching modes: LSB 7.260MHz USB 7.257MHz CW 7.2594MHz RTTY 7.2594MHz AM 7.260MHz I've gone through and done all of the alignments and everything is set correctly. I would think that the radio would just stay on the frequency it's set to like most radios do? Thanks and 73, Greg K2GTM

compressor switch for IC-740
5
I have an IC-740 that I am using once again after many years of inactivity. I found that it has a bad compressor switch (apparently a common problem, as I found here: https://www.qsl.net/icom/oldicomfaq/ic-740.html ) Can anyone in this group tell me where I can get a new compressor switch, or maybe even find the little board that has the vox, compressor and mode switches? As a temporary fix, I hardwired the compressor switch to the off position, since my goal is to run FT8 and other weak signal modes. tnx in advance and 73 --aryeh 4x1pb
