Unlocking HamPC

Ernie Rader

Gentlemen (and ladies too of course)!!? I've followed the instructions to burn an image to my USB drive, and it loads perfectly on my MacBook Pro.? However, after a short time my Mac goes into sleep mode, and when the spacebar is depressed, a little window comes up asking me to unlock HamPC.? Does anyone know what characters are used to unlock this program?? Ernie, W5NH

HamClock Enhancement

I have an announcement that some of y'all have been waiting for!

The next version of HamPi and HamPC will include all four pre-defined sizes (resolutions) of HamClock. I know this has been something a lot of you have been asking for a while now...

These sizes are: - 800x480 - 1600x960 - 2400x1440 - 3200x1920

Since there are four HamClock launcher menu items, they are now grouped under the "Ham Radio" -> "HamClock" menu items.

Doc Sarvis

Forgive me if this was asked before. I wasn't able to find it in the messages.

How do I install on to the pc from USB stick. It boots in live mode fine. For the life of me I cannot find any info on how to install it. Thanx.

I realize that maybe I could hook the laptop drive to my main computer and image the drive, then put it back in the laptop and see if that does it too.? Then I avoid the need for a bootable USB.

You should be able to install it on another drive, such as a SSD.? Then interrupt the boot process and get into the BIOS and manually change the first boot device to point to the device you have HamPC installed on.

You should be able to write the HamPC image to another drive using BalenaEtcher.

Just wondering if anyone has found a way to install this on a computer yet that doesn't have UEFI boot option in the bios?? I've installed a lot of different Linux versions on my laptops, but this one won't work.? I know Dave is up to his ears in fixing thing, so just wondering if any of you users/testers out there have had any luck or good ideas?

HamPC (ansible playbook) now rewrites the hard-coded paths in the config files to work with HamPC as well as HamPi.

Fixed in git commit?.

Re: Defects worked from GitHub Issues #github

I think the biggest factor for improving HamPC is the feedback from the people using it. I can see things and obviously make additions and corrections on my own but I will not see everything, and that is where the users come into play. Its success rests with you guys!

The reason the Wi-Fi worked on the Evolve III that you have with hand PC is because I specifically added in the Wi-Fi driver to get my own Evolve III working.

Re: Defects worked from GitHub Issues #github

I know where you're going with us. My Evolve III Maestro laptop does have internal speakers but there is no audio under HamPC. That's because this computer is too new to have the correct driver support in Linux. I tried a number of different methods over an extended period of time to get to work with no success. When the drivers become available, HamPC will support its audio.

Re: Defects worked from GitHub Issues #github

I have seen that on the Maestro for only the HamPC distro (but the wifi worked after the install). Linux Mint had working audio but not working wifi.

I have been meaning to look into it further as I would really like to not have to use an external USB sound nub, but I haven't had the time yet.
