If they are ball bearings you may be able to get new ones from a
hardware store. If you have any of the originals you can use them to
determine the size needed.

I ordered the balls off Amazon.? Good idea.? Not sure how to get them in there but they must have come out!

I also found a replacement cap on Ebay. Looks very similar.? Will get that on its way also.

Did all the moveable plates shift sideways, causing the gap in one direction to be much smaller than the other?? If yes, can you momentarily make the gap even by tugging (hard) on the shaft?? I had this problem in an antenna tuner.

The ball bearings fell out.? That allowed all the plates to touch. Someone continued to operate it that way and burned up some plates.??

Even with new balls and adjustment of the end stop, all the plates are touching and kicked over.?
