A good start

Life is good.?
Have an SR-500 on the work bench. I turned it on and set the dial to 7.175. Set the AF and RF gain to max and let it warm up. In the meantime, I unboxed my new TinySA ultra. Ureka, it passed the self-test. Ureka, level cal, no problem. Selected low out,
set the frequency to 7.175, set the ultra output to -33db, set the external step attenuator for -40db. I then turned the low gen on and HU RAH the S-meter went to S9 and the audio output meter/load registered 2watts.?
It was right there I didn't even have to retune the 500.

That is indeed a good start for the New Year. Am now back on track with the SR-150+ here and ready to restart the VFO and RIT/CAL checkout. With just some preliminary testing it appears the receiver is all good except for possibly some minor alignment touchup. Am going to do a fresh print of the new version of the manual. Just wish I could get a slightly larger version of the schematic as my eyes not that good for the tiny print anymore. 73 ... Ed, WA9GQK

Walt, congrats on the calibration.
?
Question since I'm new to these devices, can a TinySA, inject a signal into a tuned circuit on 2 meters to find out where its resonant ?
?
IOW, I have built a 2 meter 1kw amplifier but can't get any drive into it because the SWR going into the grid is way off meaning its resonance is way off in the hinterlands and I need to find out where its set to.

Bill,
Yes, it can. It has eliminated several test instruments from my bench. It is a spectrum analyzer, RF signal generator (cw, am, fm), sweep generator and frequency generator. You can sweep filters and IF's. It has several other functions I have yet to explore.
I got first tinysa a couple years ago. Now paired with the tinysa ultra, the only piece of test equipment on the bench I now use is the scope.

开云体育You didn't mention manufacturer or where you got it. On Amazon, the price
for the Tinysa ultra seems to vary from $159 to roughly $240 depending on
manufacturer and ad contents.

I too got a Tiny SA Ultra from Santa this year. I'm waiting for a DC block and a set of attenuators before I use it much, in order to keep from damaging it. I would recommend getting the TSA Ultra from R&L in the US. There are a TON of ripped off clones of this thing circulating through various places. It's staggering to get a piece of gear for $159 that replaces a $20K box of a few years ago. Merry Christmas to us! :-) John K5MO On Fri, Dec 27, 2024 at 5:49?PM Peter A Markavage via <pmarkavage=[email protected]> wrote:

Pete and the group,
You have to be very careful where you order from. The designer and manufacturer of the TinySA recommend R&L electronics hear in the states.
Amazon and E bay are loaded with clone knock-offs.?
I would recommend visiting the TinySA groups.io site and do a little research before?you buy.
Oh, Yes R&L Electronics price 149.95 shipping 10.95.

开云体育To add to the fellows caution.? The reason for getting an authentic version is that firmware updates and some of the self-cal processes don't run properly on some of the clones.? I guess the thinking by these clone makers must be that the recourse to the seller is lost in the noise in the event of problems.? And that most users won't actually use it for serious work.? That must be true as there are a thousand out on the Aliexpress site making Amazon look somewhat tame by comparison.
