The clutch plates should remain clean and dry. Just keep working it from end to end, note position of the gears when it binds up and add a little more grease at that point.
Last resort:::?complete disassembly of the gear train and clean all the shafts.
NOT?to be attempted unless you are very confident in your dexterity and mechanical skills.

I have cleaned the old grease and added a small amount of white grease to the gears.? That has helped quite a bit.? However, the dial still sticks a bit.??

I also cleaned up the clutch plates.? Should I lube the clutch plates or leave them dry?
