Re: s 38C tube line up

Correction: second tube is a 12SG7, fat fingers. The tubes are typical
"All American 5" meant to work from AC or DC at about 115 volts.

The 6 volt tube doesn't belong there. 12SA7, 12QG7, 12SQ7, 35Z5,

There is a handbook on BAMA. Replace all electrolytic and paper
capacitors. There is a kit from Hayseed Hamfest. If the sets been
running with the wrong tube in it for much time the high filament
voltage may have damaged the tubes so they should be checked. Rememeber,
that in AC/DC sets the filaments are in series.
Get the handbook. Each S-38 model is somewhat different from the
others, you need the correct book.

Well, I did it again.... brought home a sad looking S-38C.
It isnt in bad shape, all the knobs and parts are there.? It doesnt
play, however.?? I did bring it up on a variac, with a dim bulb . All I
get is a slight hum out og the speaker... Guessing tome for new filter
caps ( no biggie).? In looking at various schematics, I am finding both
35z5, 50L6, 12sq7, 12sa7, 12sk7 , and 12sa7 12sk7 , 12sg7 35z5, 50L6 as
tube line ups.? Seeing as mine had a 6sk7 in it (my guess someone had
low line voltage?), I am trying to figure out which line up is correct.
Is there an easy way to do this , other than looking at tube socket
wiring (and who knows if mine is correct)??? Any ideas???
