Hello C,

I don¡¯t know anything about the rig, but with that cap riveted in, if you think that cap is shot but not certain, perhaps? jump it somehow with a good cap of some reasonable value, and see what happens.. just an idea , but I don¡¯t understand the circuit. ?,, ahhh maybe a bad riveted connection¡­ HooNose

Came home and fired the rig up. let it run for an hour. Found a 10 to 15 W carrier on Both side bands.

Attempted to NULL the carrier.? The POT works and did null it down to 3W.?

The Trimmer Cap only has an effect of maybe .5w.? ?

I clipped a counter to the test point of the carrier xtals and could not believe it. Both xtals had moved in the right direction!? ?

What the heck.? They are both spot on now.? 1648.550. I can adjust up and down from there. That xtal was best case 1648.4?

I guess the trimmer failed???? ?

I hate to have to change it. its riveted in.? I have a replacement 5 to 25PF trimmer.? Also new modern diodes. I guess I will rebuild this circuit now.
