Re: HP 8920B #hp8920b various questions #hp8920b
Hi Rick, I'm late to this, but to answer your question, the Gonbes GBS-8200 or 8220 converters are a low cost option if you don't mind making a sync separator circuit and putting it in a box. The

That is how my E8285A was acting just before it got to the point that nothing at all happened when I pushed the power switch. Replacing all of the electrolytic capacitors and one tantalum capacitor on

Right, ? I would check the 47uF on the "daughter " board first. See attached picture. Rick

Re: HP 8920A Firmware Upgrade Issue
I reprogrammed the original factory firmware (rev 6.11) eproms with 14.14. They are all 150us parts. No difference. Also checked for bent pins at the CPU , signal and memory? board connectors. None

Re: 8935 no power up
Appears to be a switching power supply, with a regulator board mounted above it. It seems the switching power supply is not starting up. Not even the fan runs. _____________ Rik Rasmussen

Hi Rik, I guess the problem will be on the rear most power supply board. Not sure what it is. Rick

Amtronix is the best. I'm amazed at their service.
I posed a while back about the 8924C my friend owned who died unexpectedly and I inherited. I fixed the PS but he had several screws and the PS cover missing, handles, trim, etc... I contacted

My programmer verifies the same way. Never got a FW checksum error,? always a non-recoverable fw error. I'll check for bent pins.

Re: HP 8920A Firmware Upgrade Issue
Swapping the -120 for a -150 is certainly something I can try. The signaling eprom is the latest I believe 08920-87167 from the HP/Agilent groups io file section

Re: HP 8920A Firmware Upgrade Issue
Actually one of the new firmware eproms is a -120 (faster), but I don't think that should matter. The current FW 9.15 (original HP parts) runs fine and is a mix of AM27C040, TMS27C040 and TCS574000.

Re: HP 8920A Firmware Upgrade Issue
The original factory firmware (rev. 6.11) eproms are Toshiba TC574000D-150. I used the same part number eprom to program the newer firmware so that shouldn't be the issue. Thanks for the suggestion,
