Agilent 34461A schenmatic
Keith, that one is probably too new to have a schematic available.? Blame the suits at HPAK and everywhere else for that.? BTW, we have several of the 34461A DMMs around Raytheon where I work, so if you have a question about how to operate it, or is it supposed to do this, or whatever, I'm happy to check it out on one of the ones at work.? Hi Jim,
Thank you for the insight and offer to assist.
The unit I have has some burned components on the main PCB.
If I send a list of the silkscreen component designations, can you open one up and determine the manufacturer part numbers?
I'm one of those people who refuses to pay an outrageous sum to replace the entire board when a few dollars of replaceable components are the only thing necessary to make the device functional, again.
Just in case you are able and willing to do this, I've included the component designations:
CR1008
E1005
Q1003
U1005
E1002
I've also attached pictures of the locations of these components.
BTW: "No" is an acceptable response.
Regards,
Keith Harvey

Oooh, I'm sure I would get in big trouble if I were to open up one of the 34461As at work!? Even opening up a way-out-of-warranty 8510 or 8753 or 8566 could even be a career-limiting move. Punching the buttons and seeing what it does - that I can do; removing the cover - no.? Sorry about that. Jim

Sorry I couldn't be of much help, Keith.? Say, now I'm curious, what kind of components do those E reference designators stand for?? The only time I've seen that used was at Powerwave (now out of business) where they were solder connection points for coaxial cables.? Are those ferrite beads or something?? Enquiring minds want to know!???? Jim

开云体育These appear to be ferrite chokes.Value may not be overly important. Usually used to pass DC and reduce RF on a line. Glenn WB4UIV On 10/6/2024 9:39 PM, Jim Ford wrote:

Thank you Jared.
I don't know how helpful photos will be unless they clearly show the manufacturer part number, but it's certainly worth a try.

Gotcha. That makes perfect sense!?
?
Looks like someone will help with photos, but when I'm dealing with unknown parts it is helpful sometimes to trace out the circuit a bit. If youre interested in knowing what that IC is for example. This is especially helpful for when a search comes up with multiple part #s. At least you can identify this is an op-amp, regulator, etc.? |
See if these images are of any help.

开云体育Hi Keith, ? I checked my 34410A and my 34465A, and unfortunately, I don't have a 34461A. However, they all have the same function to perform, that is to say from +10V, provide a voltage of +3.3V, +1.2V and possibly +2.5V. A switcher lowers a DC voltage from about +10V to +3.3V, the frequency of the switcher is about 1.3MHz for both instruments. The 34461A has the same part numbers as the 34465A, there is a very good chance that the 34465A and 34461A have the same circuit for the section concerned. ? I don't know if this can help you, but you have an idea of ??the damaged circuit. I don't have the part numbers unfortunately, only the marking codes or the Keysight part numbers. ? I repaired a 34461A a few months ago, the +3.3V switch was not damaged, but there was a short circuit on the +3.3V line caused by a faulty capacitor. ? 开云体育? As specified in the last email, I don't have the part numbers unfortunately, only the marking codes or the Keysight part numbers. Also, I can't find these part numbers on the Keysight website. ? If I were in your situation, I would first look for a 1.3MHz 8 pin switcher with the same package. And from the circuit and the coil value, I would try to see if the pin out seems compatible, and if the installed coil would be compliant with a 1.3MHz operating frequency. ? A friend of mine probably has a 34461A that he could lend me, but don't expect to have more details on the part numbers, but I could take the waveforms at the switcher pins. I am not absolutely sure that the switcher of the 34461A and 34465A are identical because I do not have a detailed photo of this section for the 34461A, but the coil value is the same. ? ? ?
